Both of those shots looked fine, amazing how enduring a bull elk can be I know first hand. Way to stick it out and get it done! Forget the haters, you've got a rack on your wall

Way to stick with it. Very tough animals. Marginal shots on elk can be...well marginal :) Much tougher than deer. Glad you got him.

I watched it again and had to consider what was going on be fore the shot, the bull was in a fight, probably raging-mad thus being super-charged with adrenalin , therefore twice as hard to kill. He went to the water to cool down a high-fever from the effects of the shot, one tough bull

Like the video, I have heard elk will do crazy things to plug up holes. Just never thought of one swimming. Way to keep up with the ethics of hunting.

Very interesting, yeah for the people who don't know a thing about hunting, they can keep their comments too themselves and shut up!! I'm curious where you hit that bull, and what kind of broadheads were you using? I shot a 5 point in September...shot looked great, maybe a tiny bit high, but still way good, bull went 50 yards maybe and stopped, then took off, never found him:( any thoughts on what could've happened??

That first arrow was a perfect shot and almost went through the animal. Maybe the broad head didn't expand cause it should have been dead in minutes.

I have to agree with (don't take the video down) those that want it down have probably lost game because of being too lazy to finish the job it's hard work physically and mentally, congratulations,, That shot was good, so was the Hail-Mary , some bulls just die hard, don't worry about the negative comments, and as for making us( hunters look bad ) is (bullshit) this video shows a true Sportsman tough enough to finish the job. Fred Bear would be proud you yes -siree

We never said it was a real hunt. this was a private ranch and the only reason why we did this hunt was because the land owner wanted the population thinned. So please keep your comments to yourself. You didnt know the whole story so dont judge

While not the most tasteful of videos, it was an elk hunt. Things do not always go perfect. He should be very happy getting that bull. It's not an easy task. If you ask many rifle elk hunters they will tell you to shoot until it's expired. They are the one of toughest North American big game animals to hunt, especially with a bow. As for why us hunters hunt? If you have to ask that question, it's probably not worth the time to answer. I am all for education, but some things can't be understood. Congrats on the bull.

you can't 'take it down' during archery season with a shot to the head. That's the way the DWR rules work. As hard as it is when this kinda stuff happens, you're a better man for staying with it and completing the harvest than to just shrug and walk away. You shouldn't take this video down at all because it is a very interesting case study on what could happen, and education is more important than hurt feelings and sensitivity

Agreed...take down the video. Or edit out a bunch to reflect only the shot and end result, not an shallow arrow flopping out of the bulls side for hours. We hunters don't need to give the owl huggers more fuel for their senseless fire. Anyone that has bow hunted long enough has either lost an animal or had to hunt for days to find it. Not fun...nor rewarding to the hunter. No true hunter enjoys injuring an animal or watching it suffer. In a perfect world, they die fast and clean. We all know that isn't always the case. I've made shots I wasn't proud of...but I sure didn't tell anyone...let alone show it on video. At least they found this one. On another note...choose the correct equipment to match the animal you're after....and practice practice practice. If the shot looks iffy...back off, you'll get another chance.

I love the video and that you stuck with collecting the animal. My comment was because we hunters only lose ground (our rights) when we post videos that appear to non-hunters to be cruel to the animals, i.e. slow death. It only makes them more aggressive in their fight to take our rights away and don't think they can't! There numbers are far bigger than ours. The libs are winning on all fronts. They are the ones who are the so called "haters", a word I despise because it comes from the libs. They are the ones who would rather you die than for an animal to die that you harvested for the meat. Hunting vids are cool, but we need to use good judgment to preserve our rights to hunt.

Looks like you're shooting mechanical broadheads. Too many big bones and too much flesh to punch through for a mechanical in my opinion. Fixed blade only for elk. Not a guarantee but I'd say it will double your odds of killing and finding an elk you hit.

we should all be " the better man" about this , the shot might have been well placed .. might have just been a crazy strong willed bull . having said that big sky hunter this video does look very much like disgraceful poor skilled hunting. i certainly wouldn't put my name to it .

You should be using a heavy weight arrow with a single bevel broad head for a quick kill. Please look up Dr. Ashby reports on Trad Gang.com. These information may be useful on your next hunt for an ethical quick kill.

Pretty lame excuse for a bow hunting video - obviously your first shot was from too far away and the arrow hit a rib and therefore had poor penetration and your second shot to the hind quarter was a hail-Mary as well, made as the Bull was taking off - practice - practice - practice boys

Since your comments are blocked on the buffalo hunt ill put this here I love hunting but you people are the worst kind of hunters you take all the challenge and sport out of it... walking up to a buffalo with a 45-70 being about 20 feet away... thats pathetic that round can drop a buffalo easy at 500 yards take a real shot
