Somrak Khamsing is a Thai superstar, a true once in a life time athlete with special gifts.
He is considered the best Muay Thai fighter to not capture a stadium belt despite beating all the champions in his weight classes.
Due to the politics he experienced, he went to boxing and grabbed an Olympic gold medal.
As the first Thai athlete to ever grab a gold medal in the Olympics, he became an instant superstar.
His record in Muay Thai stands at around 300W-12L, and boxing 150-50.
As a stylist, he is both a "Muay Mat and Muay Fimeu," which means he's a puncher who is an artistic technician.
He put together many tactics in boxing and combined it with Muay Thai. Perhaps his most spectacular fusion is his evasion and use of head movement in order to slip punches and elbows.
You may be interested to find out that Somrak is indeed the one who discovered and mentored the pound for pound great Saenchai.
In this feature, we also explore multiple techniques that Somrak specialized in.
