Would LOVE to see a GR-Sport put through this, with the KDSS suspension and the front and rear diff locks. Also the fact that the GR-S has 18" wheels as standard, as opposed to the 20" wheels of the ZX - might make a difference. There's be pluses and minuses, I reckon. Looking forward to Reuben getting a GR.... ;)

Watching the 300 go over that ledge at 8:51 , I was so sure the tires were going to give and a puncture would be the result, but... they were lucky this time...they weren't as unlucky as their American counterparts (TFL) who faced 2 punctures with the new Land-rover defender and had to leave it in the trail to go get its tires fixed. (It had similar profile tires.) Awesome vid guys.

Just test drove the zx and loved it. So did the kids. Prefer the look over the GR but was torn over the two regarding off road ability. This video has answered all of my questions as my use will be 90% on road and then 20% around a 500 acre NSW property to maybe shoot a couple of bunnies for dinner. Thanks a bunch. Best 300 series video on line. P.S. I have a 2017 Ranger which owes me about $150k. Canopy the works. When I saw your chopped canopy build get stuck and the 300 keep going, I looked at my Ranger and said to myself, sorry girl, but your going....😂

One problem with going from 31" to 33" and 35" is drive train stress and speedo correction. I've gone from 30.50" (265/60/18) to 32.20" (275/70/17). Went from a 4Km/h over speed to a 2Km/hr under speed; so 100 is 102. The Ranger Wildtrak already has a large rear drum, it won't take a 16" wheel. The Isuzu has a weak as piss rear drum assembly. A 285/75/17 is right out of spec - 110 indicated is actually 118 Km/h. Rangers and BT50s are the same in many ways. With a DPF-back exhaust, it costs about $8k to bullet proof the 3.2, straight five, diesel.

@@danbskyguy This is not what I'm saying. This ZX as tested will go anywhere the defender can go. Just the ZX will just most likely damage its front and rear bumper. The GR will fare much better (cosmetic damage wise). 4x4 Australia picked the 300-series VX as its 2022 4x4 wagon of the year. Beating the Defender. Both the Defender and the 300-series will get you from A to B off-road, they just do it in a different manner.

He tore the car apart going along the test track , not very fair to Toyota to damage the 300 so seriously , the Nissan Y62 would make an interesting comparison on the same course as it uses rear independent suspension multiple diff locks and a different 4WD traction system and electronics thicker hight tires at 68 000 less dollars to buy , you do get a 300 dollar bigger touch screen in the Landcruiser and an agricultural live real axel like a horse buggy .The need to quickly change all your tires and let the bumbers tear off it will make it up a basic track . Don't worry about the rattling seats , tearing off the bumpers and wafting on road feel what do you want for 148K once you accessorise for another 20 k , it will be better off road. PS Toyota thanks for buying the advertising I'll use it to fuel my Patrol .....

I don't understand why Toyota offers the ZX with much worse approach/break-over/departure angle than other models. The approach angle on the ZX is only 24 degrees (32 degrees on every other grade) and the break-over angle is severely reduced by the horrible low hanging running boards. The Range Rover and G-class all have the same approach/break/departure angle no matter the grade. If I had the ZX I would swap the lower bumper for the GR's lower bumper, remove the running-board and swap the rear lower bumper for the non ZX version. That being said even the GX/VX/GR's 32 degree approach and 25 degree departure angle is unacceptable.
