@@PowrAl Interesting question.I'm Japanese and we usually never tend to eat big cut or heavy amount of food.I think there are several reasons:1)Our stomach is basically small(this applies to other Asian people).2)Aesthetic issues. It is very important in Japanese culture how the things looks so nice.Something massive is just an object and an ingredient and there I find no techniques or elaboration. I am always astonished by thick-sliced fishes on sushi rice of abroad everytime I see on internet🍣,this is fisherman's style not for fancy restaurant. All in all "big" food is thought to be country-style and wild in ways good.I dream of eating big cut meat🥩 but not often and every weekend, just wish it one time in a decade😀.

I am Japanese. A lot of foreign people come to japan recently. Unfortunately, they go to McDonald's often. You can see a lot and various restaurant in Japan compared to Europe and US. Please try to go to many restaurants! I think you do not feel uncomfortable form staff in almost all of restaurants , even if you are other countries person. By the way, Unagi is famous and traditional food, so you can see everywhere in Japan. However, I recommend expensive one in a Unagi specialty restaurant, because you may feel fishy in cheap shop.
