Directing the Heat of my waste oil burner into a rough furnace made of ordinary house bricks. The burner was doing a test to melt aluminium cans and copper running on Used or waste vegetable oil. This waste oil burner can consume around 30L an hour. Waste engine oil could also be used. As much as I play with it, I never cease to be amazed at the power of burning waste oil. Don't forget to check out the other burners and vids on my channel and subscribe and share.
See the follow up vid where I discover I actually melted steel on this run!
The use of free fuel makes an inefficient oil burning furnace like this quite viable Certainly the oil burners output was able to reach a lot higher temperature than operating in open air. There is certainly a lot that could be improved with this but for a zero cost, no effort furnace it would be hard to beat. It melted Copper easily and could probably do anything up to cast iron with a bit of dirt backed around the outside to fill the gaps between the bricks.
2 hours after I shut this thing off it was still radiating enormous amounts of heat I could have easily cooked on with a fry pan.
You can see the molten copper puddled along the base of the furnace at 4:38.
Next I'll try making a steel crucible and melting an entire alternator.
