I started doing this a few years ago . Work smarter not harder . I made nice reusable metal frame ends that the legs slide under into the skid s .The bucking and splitting process is right in front of the skids . Throw the wood right on the Skids too a pile then it’s right there for stacking . So much easier and faster working back stacking . 👍👍👍

After doing the corner stacking, I went to this method last year. Since I don't sell wood, or worry about stack size, I just pick a few trees that look like 3 or 4 pallets will fit and then set a pallet up against the tree. You're are on to something because it is much easier.

Hi Chris - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I used pallet ends for years but I find it more convenient to use ropes instead of the planks and nails. The system is fast, versatile and has never failed. However, I use rope found when beach combing - not an easy option for you!!
@InTheWoodyard
3 жыл бұрын
So how do you attach the rope and where?
@rodneysweetnam8653
3 жыл бұрын
Chris - Big Rodders again. I have a stock of two different lengths of rope. I first use 2 short pieces to tie the base of the vertical pallet to the horizontal one. Then I use 2 X 6ft lengths at 45 degrees just like your 2 planks to keep the end pallet vertical. I have an aversion to nails, having knelt on them in the past but if I had to use planks I would use screws and a drill driver for speed and ease of dismantling. Now get back to stacking, with or without Dave - and Irene!

@@InTheWoodyard just curious, I cut mine at 18. When stacked 3 across it comes out to four and a half feet across by 4 ft high by seven and a half feet long for the cord. At least that's what I tell myself.

wait till you figure out that you can punch a 3 or 4" round branch into the ground and stack against that about 3.5ft high then tie a rope to the branch and either run the rope end to end to another branch or just run the rope about 5 ft and tie off to the pallet decking and let the weight of the wood on top of the rope keep tension on the branch holding up the ends.

Yes that would work too. I guess that I need to buy a few miles of rope for my 600-700 face cords then.

Crazy how when I watch you stack wood it seems fun, but in reality, it's not. Weird
