Where I live it's more common to use open face insulation and then use poly sheeting with taped seems to provide a tight air/vapor barrier. I'm sure the faced insulation works good too though. Nice work!

There is a vapor barrier on the bare metal wall underneath as well

@sly dankass and ensure water cant escape to grow mold. 1 side or the other...not both. 1 side towards the hot side depending on climate. That paper backing is a vapor barrier also. Works but will cause long term problems for moisture entrapment.

Yep, it’s a 1734e. I have 650 hours on it now. It is a 2016. It’s been a great tool on our property.

How much did the blow in insulation cost

Looks great! I’m going to build a 30x40 but only 10ft tall. I am going to do trusses 4ft on center as well. I don’t want to OSB sheet anything but the roof. So my question would be; did you sheet the building? Or did your just wrap the girts with weather barrier and tin without osb sheets? Then put your insulation against your house wrap?
@lukeduke3738

No OSB at all on the outside anywhere. Vapor Barrier all around, and double bubble foil faced insulation under the roof metal. The fiberglass insulation is against the vapor barrier/wrap.

@@lukeduke3738 thanks for the information I appreciate it. Did you sheet your interior walls yet?
@lukeduke3738

@@CalebCain1985 about 50%. I bought 20 sheets to get started in the spring but then the price became ridiculous so I am waiting for it to come down a bit.

were your trusses 4' on center? Did you use purlins across them to hold the metal roof? Just wondering how you supported the interior metal roof?
@lukeduke3738

Yes, they are 4’ on center. Purlins were not necessary on the trusses being 4’ on center.

Did you have to staple up any those bats or did they fit tight enough?
@lukeduke3738

They are stapled on the posts as well as the horizontal supports. On top, they are stapled to the Truss Carriers.

Did you insulate under the slab?
@lukeduke3738

No insulation. I have about 8” of compacted gravel base. Under the concrete is vapor barrier. Concrete is roughly 6” thick.

What is the distance between to edge of the garage door and the wall when the door is opened? I want to put a lift in mine to work on cars but noticed how far the garage door comes in. I might do a roll up if that’s the case.
@lukeduke3738

Which door? Big or small? I would build a larger barn if you want to put a lift in and work on cars. I would do a 36x48x14 at least and put 3 doors in the same wall

Did you consider using cellulose on the walls?
@lukeduke3738

Yes, but because of my horizontal framing it was not as convenient. Ultimately the R-19 batts were easy to install and less expensive.
@marcusjames3035

@@lukeduke3738 I thought about doing the same but didn’t know how well the horizontal framing would hold the batts in place. Some told me I would have to build internal studs to hold the insulation.
@lukeduke3738

@@marcusjames3035 you can still staple the batts to the horizontal boards. I stapled mine to the top header first and worked my way down. I still believe it was easier than installing framing through the entire barn. Those batts are not going anywhere

I am planning a 30x 56 build and as of now I am going to you foam sheets for insulating the walls.
