In a mountain range near southern CA, are two bald eagles, Shadow and Jackie. KZitem has a live feed of their nest in Big Bear. I watched them this past winter. They laid three eggs. Sadly they didn’t hatch. Your daughter is very fortunate to see eagles in their habitat. The live camera on their nest is pretty awesome. My sister bought a house with an entire wall of mirror. We had to break it into pieces to remove it. It was wild! Thanks for another great story! I must admit I was holding my breath waiting to see how you managed that mirror. I visualized a little bit of Lucille Ball in her wallpaper escapades. 😂

I never knew what a grass widow was and now I realize, I was a grass widow!! I raised 2 children on my own and fixing a lot of things that needed to be repaired in the home myself. My husband left the state and I never knew where he went for 5 years. We divorced and to tell you the truth, I was thrilled about it. I was only sad for my children who hardly ever saw their father. But, we strong women keep marching on, don't we? Thanks for sharing your mirror and wallpaper stories. I can really relate😊

Hello Pat! Wow, your arms and shoulders must have been aching the next day after that mirror episode. lol I believe it was 1965 and my Grandma got a job at the R.C.A. factory and the first thing she did with the extra money coming in was update the living and dining room. She replaced the 1940's style rugs with modern carpets. New, bright wallpaper and a three piece ,aqua, curvy sofa like the one on the Dick Van Dyke show. lol She always referred to it as "the sectional." Plus, one of those big old mirrors that she had hung above the T.V. set. She was so proud of these improvements. When she passed in 2004, all of the above items were still there and looked almost brand new. Pork loin sounds so good. There's nothing better than the gravy you can make from it! Enjoy the rest of your evening and pardon my lengthy response. Gary

Glad I found you. I bought your cookbook, I think it is wonderful. Do you know that children are not taught cursive writing. It is a shame. I have told my grandsons there are letters to and from their grandfather that they will never read. I saved the letters for future generations. The changes I have seen in my 65 years. Someone dropped the ball on common courtesy. ❤ Oh Yes , your mother was indeed beautiful. 101 years. Wish I could have talked to her. My grandmothers were born 1918 and 1919. They both lived to be 89. I sometimes wonder what they would think of grocery prices today.

I do know how heavy those mirrors are! You were lucky to not have it fall on you. I never heard of a grass widow before. It's hard when you have to do things with no help. I know how that is. Like you said "where there's a will there is a way." I have used lots of outdoor tools, the weed whacker, a chainsaw, skill saws, etc. My latest buy was a nail gun. That thing is heavy but so much easier to pop that nail in rather than using a hammer. You know those grabbers you can buy to reach things high on a shelf? I had a snake in my garage and that came in handy to get that snake by the neck and I put him over the fence and hopefully he went over the hill. It was a black snake and it curled around the grabber, so I moved fast! After that my neighbor called me to come and remove one from her carport!! She lived 3 houses down, so I went and put it over the hill too! I found Billie Gene's channel and subscribed. Lordy, but it made me hungry!! They were calling for storms tomorrow. I just don't want any bad storms but we sure need the rain. My grass has some brown spots. I have a guy who mows on Mondays, and I thought he might not mow yesterday but he did. He usually won't if it's getting brown, but I think by him mowing it, it brought the brown out. It was fairly green before he mowed it. The rain is much needed since it's been so hot. The gardens, grass, weeds, flowers, and everything will be happy with rain!! Hope your supper was yummy! I got some cherries at Kroger and they are delicious. I ate some of them for supper. They have that pit in them, so got to be careful to not get choked on one, but they are so tasty. I expect where you live you certainly do hear lots of sirens! I can hear one every now and then from Hwy. 27. I only live a mile from there. Then sometimes I hear the train whistle blowing, with the tracks about 3 miles from here. Every morning, just after it gets light, I have noticed the crows making a racket, not in the yard, but close. There must be some that roost in the trees over the hill here. They sure put up a fuss when they wake up!! Well, doggone it, I have written you a short book here! Hope you don't mind!! ❤❤❤

I love this story!! I haven’t heard the word “spats” in at least 45 years! I was in the high school band in the 1970s. We wore spats as part of our marching band uniforms. Hi Granny Pat! "Where there is a will there is a way" and you proved that many times in your long life. Stand proud for that gift you can give yourself. No one knows unless they have walked in your shoes and experienced similar "I did it " moments. I remember eating lunch for almost nothing compared to what it costs now. Back then if I had $4 or $5 dollars I was set for a week or more. Yes, Jan is a jewel. She is a daughter that is filled with love for you. Of course, stories will come to you as each day passes. We love all of your stories and enjoy your perspective on how it begins and ends. Enjoy your pork tenderloin. Yummy. I bet it smells wonderful. Being independent is not something I ever thought about but I am glad I was at the top of my game on figuring things out. Trial and error was a big help. It never goes on your resume but a lot of what makes us tick is a "can do" attitude. So, remember, you can think of new stories and you will. You are the best, my friend. You looked pretty in your red. Nancy from IN 😊❤

Men would wear spats to keep their boots clean and as a status symbol. Men who wore spats were often considered well off and sometimes known as dandies. Spats also became famous because of who wore them; real life gangsters and movie stars portraying gangsters were seen wearing spats.

Pat, You pull my guts out of my chest. You're putting on a brave front. I can't imagine what you went through. I remember those days. As I've told you. My mom was three months exactly older feb 1. My dad did sh_t around the house. She was a grass widow. With a husband that stayed! She had a guy next door. Who was a jack of all trades. Wanted my mom! His daughter always asked. Why is my dad at your house. My father was a butcher. He was not handy at all. Except growing up on a farm. We had a nice garden. Your mom with all due respect. Shouldn't have called you that. I've never mentioned Mr. Wrong leaving. I can read through the lines. What you must have gone through. Especially those days. My dad stayed there was constant fighting. I would defend my mom. He picked up a chair. To hit me. I'm Gregs age. He smashed our frig with a chair. My mom filed for divorce. He wouldnt leave. Also my mom didnt want to work. God rest her soul.
