My shop teacher in the late 80s was a GTO and vette nut. He worked at a dealership in 64 and bought a new gto 389, 3 dueces,4spd. It was his daily driver, but he modded it and raced it alot too. Traded it for a judge in 69,but he said the 64 was faster and he preferred its handling, idk. After the judge got old he got into corvettes and when I knew him he had a 63 convertible vette,327,4spd,a 69 convertible 350,4spd,and I think he had a 72 that was an automatic, but I cant remember for certain. He and one of his mechanic friends at the dealership raced an old 8 lug Pontiac with a 421 in it until the frame eventually broke. Cool old guy, very stern teacher though, lol.

A rare model in beautiful metallic Atlantis turquoise blue-green with lots of factory options like a Positraction rear end, 403 Olds V8, THM 400 auto trans, PS/PB, AC, AM-FM Stereo radio, and stock RTS suspension. Sold it to some guys in Oakland, California, who trashed the car, used in a liquor store robbery and wrecked it, and did not re-register it so the Oakland Police came after me and I had to submit my California DMV bill of sale to release my liability for the car. Sent the body off to the junk yard. Boy was I a dumb young kid! I remember taking it for a test ride, doing donuts and tons of smoke. Thing had a tiny bit of rust on rears but rest was nice. Interior was mint. Wish I could go back and make a different decision. I did strip a lot off it, I kept the doors and might still be sitting in a basement in Lawrence, Ma. They were in perfect condition. Same body style as my 76'. I also stripped the interior and installed in my 76' which had a bench. Installed console, buckets, everything as same color interior as 76. Probably is. Being overshadowed by the Chevy Chevelle.

4 speeds are rare, but this car was originally an automatic. I saw this car in a youtube video and the owner said he discovered it was originally an automatic that had been converted to a 4 speed. Which makes sense because it has a 455, and the 455 only came with an automatic in 73.

I actually really like the styling of the 73 gto. The performance?...... Not so much. If Pontiac installed the SD455 in the 73 then it might've gone down as my favorite of all GTOs. The 74 GTO,on the other hand, had equally hideous styling and performance. The SD455 in the 74 wouldve gone down as maybe the fastest GTO ever

Mine brand new , which I still have ran 13:02 @ 106 & that was on reg. gas back then. It was faster then most of the cars that were considered performance cars.

I had a 73 Luxury Lemans, same body, more moldings same color exterior, white top and white interior, loaded to the balls, Power Windows, locks , power drivers side bucket seat, I wanna kill myself every time I think about the stupid fact that I sold it, in 79 after owning it all of one year, to buy a 79 2 tone blue 301 Grand Prix, what an ass I was

Pontiac GrandPrix73 : I feel your pain man. To this day, my biggest regret is me selling my 1972 GTO! Now these cars are too expensive for me to buy another one. On top of that, my GTO was Orange with a white vinyl top. From the Internet, I learn that 72 GTO with vinyl tops were very rare. Oh my God, and I had one. I kick myself every day for selling it.
