My best advice for stained clothing is to train yourself out of considering it "ruined" because it has a stain or two. Obviously taking care of your clothing is important, but it doesn't have to be pristine. Most of the time, you're the only one who would even notice, and most people who do notice either just write it off as "Oh look Hannah's a human and life has happened" or they're someone who's opinion you shouldn't care about anyhow. So, do what you reasonably can to remove the stain, but once you've done that much, just go back to enjoying it as normal.

++ for sure! I got a fairly large bleach stain on a pair of shorts that I have been loving this summer, and while I'm going to try and up-cycle them with embroidery, I definitely am keeping them and just wearing them in more casual ways than I had been previously! They're not ruined, just changed!

For me, this depends. If I get a paint stain on my pants, I can work with that. If it's something I can cover up or just wear at home that's OK. But if it's a stain that makes it look like I dribbled food down my front, that one won't ever go out in public.

Agreed! I come from a family of cyclists and pretty regularly accidentally get bike grease on my clothes. I have a bar of this green olive oil soap that I was given specifically because it's so good at getting bike grease out, and will also use a soft bristle brush (my vegetable cleaning brush) to rub it into the stain... then I toss the whole garment into the washing machine and 9 times out of 10, the stain is totally gone. Good luck, don't give up hope!

I have a partially seasonal wardrobe - in my case I live in Finland so winters can get very cold. Hence, I need a lot more layers and clothes in the winter. What I generally do is that for the summer I pack away my warmest things (I do this in parts, first go the thickest winter coats, the the less thick winter coats, then once I know there's no need for them anymore my thick woolen shirts go) but keep the rest. Once it starts getting cold, I re-introduce those same clothes into my wardrobe in the opposite order - woolen shirt first (can act as a light jacket at the start), heavy winter coats last. Some of my summer clothes become underlayers for winter - to be honest, probably most if not all of them do. I have been known to wear five skirts at the same time to keep myself warm, lol. But yeah, one of my biggest tips would be to not pack everything away at once, but in steps - that way the transition is much smoother in my opinion, and it won't be as rough on you if the weather goes back to being colder/hotter again. To be fair tho, my wardrobe is really small, partly out of being poor, partly out of ethics and partly out of living in really small space with limited storage. Maybe in the future I will have completely separate winter wardrobe and don't have to use my summer clothes for layering in the winter, but it works this way as well. Just makes me more excited about my winter wardrobe than I am about my summer (/winter layers) wardrobe haha. This makes it a lot easier for me to rotate things in parts because it's smaller chore than it'd be to someone with more extensive wardrobe.

You articulated what I want - daily 10/10s! Daily “I love this outfit” moments. That might be enough to convince me to do this challenge. It would be so interesting to see an update 1-2 months post challenge to see if you still create 10/10 outfits just as frequently (or more or less) with more items available.

Liked this series! My own seasonal wardrobe experience: keeping the clothes somewhere packed away and out of sight, does give this fun 'oooh forgot i had that' vibe. And not seeing the clothes prevents you from getting bored by the sight of them during the seasons you don't even wear them. Personally I don't have a strict schedule on when to switch. Just when my wardrobe is not fitting the current whether any more. I do sort of 2 small switches. I have the average kind of clothes, all my basics that are almost always in there. In summer I add the real thin and short summery stuff. And in winter the extra think sweaters come out. But there is this section that always stays, like some jeans, some tops, thin jumpers, t-shirt, some dresses. (living in a West European climate as well ;) )

I have 3 suggestions! 1. Would love to see you do the same or a similar challenge for your winter clothes. 2. Potential video idea, testing out clothing organising/cataloging apps/methods. I know I have loads of potential outfit combinations in my wardrobe, but I forget about so many and feel overwhelmed trying to remember them all. I'd love a way to digitally organise my clothes into outfits for me to easily scroll through and choose from each day. I've seen some apps do this but they've all required you to enter an image from the online shop you got it from, not ideal if you charity shop or keep clothes for many years that aren't available any more. Would love to see you test out some various options. 3. The red top. Get some Dylon dye (for hand dying, not their washing machine version) and some normal salt (they sell their own but it's literally table salt). I think they do a postbox red. If you dye the whole top, the fact that it's already dyed a pretty strong colour means it's unlikely for the whole top to totally change colour. If you put it in a very dark red dye then yes it would probably darken a bit, but if you go for a bright red it will most likely only dye the white spot rather than change the colour of the whole top.

Living in Australia, I find we don't really have clearly defined autumn and spring (it usually ends up being a period of time with days/weeks that flip flop between summer and winter weather/temperatures). So I mainly have a separate summer and winter wardrobe with very little crossover, as our summers are too hot for basics like jeans and tshirts. These two wardrobes are pretty well defined with their own colour palettes/aesthetics. Then I have a category of clothes that I label as my "transitory wardrobe" which is basically the items that are best suited to introducing in both wardrobes when the weather changes. Jeans and light jumpers are introduced in March, while cotton shirts and dresses are introduced in September (since I don't like them as layering pieces in winter). I do the full swap over of my basics in April/October when I start to feel I'm wearing the previous season too little, and now I keep a few transitory items from the previous period (some jeans/jumpers in October, some cotton shirts/dresses in April) until May/November when I typically don't need those transitory items anymore. That's when I remove them and fully go winter or summer.

Seasonal wardrobe: something to think about. "Out of sight out of mind" In other words: You forget how much you own. A lot of people comment that it is great to be suprised about what you have stuffed away a couple of months sgo. Isn't it crazy that we are so used to owning so many things that we can't keep track? I think seasonal wardrobes encourage a lot of people to simply double the amount of clothes they own because they start to fill the empty spaces and they have more space for each season. Less is more ❤

Hey Hannah! I’m a seasonal wardrobe person and I change it out twice a year. In England it’s a bold move but it works for me 😂 I tend to change it in September and March. I also keep a few transitional pieces. For example dresses that I can wear in the summer on their own but I also wear in the winter with tights, boots and polo necks. Same with dungarees and some maxi skirts. I also absolutely love change over day as I’ve forgotten what I owned so that’s pretty exciting. I also use this time to have a clear out so anything I didn’t wear during its time in the wardrobe gets donated. I don’t include shoes or jackets in this as my storage for them is accessible (ottoman beds for shoes are the best things ever 👍🏻). Good luck! Would love to see how you get on with it if you try it 😁 x

Stress not about the yellow skirt, I'm certain the grease will come out! I once got bike grease on my very light blue jeans (right over the knee as well, so a really obvious spot). What I found got it out is some spray on spot treatment. Nothing with bleach in it, just something very soapy that will dissolve the grease. I saturated the grease stain with the spot treatment, rubbed it in a little and chucked it in the wash. I can't remember if it came out straight away, but I think that got most of it out. After a few washes, the grease wasn't noticable anymore. If you did a close inspection now, you wouldn't even know they used to have grease on them. It might not come out the first time around, but if you continue getting it soapy it should come out eventually!

On getting bike grease out - letting some dish soap soak into the damp fabric for a minute then scrubbing works if its not super greasy. The best thing I've ever found for removing grease and oil is Goop Hand Cleaner. I'm from the US and have no clue about the availability in the UK, but I buy it from amazon. Always apply goop to the stain when the fabric is dry though, if the fabric is damp it sometimes doesn't work. Then scrub, rinse, and wash. Almost every stain comes out with no damage to your clothes.

I do a seasonal wardrobe, always have, it’s how my mom taught me. I keep the off season stuff in a storage tote I’m luckily able to keep somewhere I can easily access if I switch over too early, but what I typically do is keep lightweight sweaters in pastel colors out year round in case I switch to summer too early or we suddenly have our first cold day in fall, and then also all my short sleeve tees and blouses that don’t have summery prints on them year round because they layer. So basically what gets swapped each season is bulky sweaters, turtlenecks, tanks, shorts, skirts, dresses go by vibe and also anything I think in general gives a seasonal vibe (like fabrics: eyelet only in warm months, velvet only in cold months). All my shoes are in one organizer. My outerwear all goes in one closet and I keep an over door hook rack on it so the relevant coats hang outside and the off season hang inside.

The best stain remover for grease is the blue dawn dish washing liquid poor a tiny amount on to the stain an rub it in and let it sit for 30 minutes make sure it stays wet then throw it in the washer. Use a little of the dawn as you can because it’s a more bubbly soap.

Mineral oil / grease stains, beyond what you've already tried with washing up liquid (assuming you first applied neat and agitated), my usual plan of attack is: 1 - Combination of biological washing powder and oxygenating stain remover (Vanish or whatever) on a 40 wash. 2 - Putting the affected area between two bits of kitchen roll then ironing over the area. This will melt the grease which will then absorb into the paper. Be careful when moving the paper not to apply it back to the fabric, and also make sure the iron plate is clean before using it again. 3 - Last resort would be to attack it with white spirit / methylated spirits. This will almost certainly clear grease, but it may impact the dyes too.

I would try the fabric pen for the red top first! I've done that before with success, although it was for a lighter patterned top that was easier for me to blend in, but I think it's worth trying before dying the whole thing. I'm also attempting a seasonal wardrobe for the first time this year. I barely looked at my closet last year, but I never did much to separate my clothes because my office building was cold year-round and the only thing I changed was the shoes and outerwear. Something else that one can do with the seasonal/capsule wardrobe approach is, for example, like you have all your summer clothes and when switching over from spring to summer, make a capsule of only some of them and store the rest for the next summer, instead of getting rid of them. Then you can enjoy an even longer 'refresh' time, if that makes sense.

It’s very hard to have a wardrobe that can adapt to four seasons and have everything be useful all year but I’m working on it!

Something that worked for me, to get rid of the oilstain on my coat was butter. You put the butter on the stain and then a normal wash.

You can do a summer edition of wearing only 10 items for 10 days, in which you're not allowed to repeat any of the items from last time 🔥😎🔥 love love love your fashion videos!

If you buy elbow grease spray which is a household cleaner that will most probs get that grease stain out, my OH is always covered in engine oil and it works a treat on his clothes

For the bike grease stain, I haven't had to take out bike grease but I have been able to get out food grease on a gray top with this: mix together baking soda, dawn dish soap, and hydrogen peroxide. Use a toothbrush and apply it to the stain, let it set for 10-20 minutes. Wash and dry. It took out the food grease that had already been washed and dried before I noticed the stain. It might take a couple applications, but it's a miracle worker.

My advice for the stained clothing would be to do some kind of embroidery like a little flower or something with red thread or super obvious colour. Love this kind of videos!!

I started with a seasonal wardrobe but I get very hot easily so it is quite hard to make a wardrobe in that way. Because my summer clothes I also can wear in the winter... I just will put away clothes that I know won't be worn in a while so that my closet gets at least a tiny bit empty

I've had a seasonal wardrobe for some years already. It makes life sooo much easier! And i am looking forward to seeing my fall clothes, cant even remember what lovely things i have :) One advise i got from some decluttering blogger: if you think an item of clothing is more a meme to than something to wear, move it with your sentimental items. Doesn't take up space in wardrobe!

Hi Hannah, there has to be a degrease , stain remover clothing product. I personally feel 3 months is a short period during this pandemic times, there is nothing wrong with having nice things for special occasions. Your dungarees are glorious!!! You can wear any complementary solid coloured top under your patterned pair, as shown in the video, like your red crop top. Please don't be scared of the bold pattern, you have so much scope and options to mix-and-match with it.

I live in Greece where we basically have only two seasons - a somewhat normal winter and a abnormally long summer - and I think that it's common for most of us here to have seasonal wardrobes. The feeling of rediscovering clothes you have forgotten about is lovely but it does add up to another thing you have to do at home twice a year. Coincidentally, I did try not to do the switch this year and it drove me crazy how little space is left so I caved in eventually!

I want to do a seasonal wardrobe and in the end check my favourites and casualties and maybe get rid of the things i don't wear at all.

Spray elbow grease on the stain on the yellow skirt, it's made to degrease things and works an absolute treat on clothes too. ❤👍

For the bike grease stain: try disc break cleaner (I don’t know if this is the proper English word but that’s what it’s used for :)) just spray the stain and tap until it’s gone… might take some tapping but I was able to save all my cloths with this method so far!

I got an unintentional taste of a challenge like this when I was living out of a suitcase of limited clothing for 25 days while moving across the country. I definitely had moments where I missed having more variety in my clothes, but I didn't miss my other clothes as much as I thought I would! Mostly it was a problem when I had moved from very hot weather to more mild weather, and I had only packed shorts...but it definitely made me appreciate the items that I LOVE and don't get sick of easily. Maybe a reassess and wardrobe dump is in my future!

If it's really grease, try dish soap (I think you call it washing up liquid?). I know here in the US blue Dawn dish soap works well. But anything that removes grease from dishes could help. 🙂

When I got axle grease on my favorite trousers, someone told me to rub cooking oil into it until I could see it starting to loosen, then wash it in hot water, rubbing lots of detergent into it first. Weirdly it worked perfectly. The oil dissolved the grease, then the detergent and hot water dissolved the oil.

Hannah, you might check clothing repair shops in London to deal with at least the bike grease stain. Most folks who have been doing that work for a while would know what to do. My mother used to design and repair coats and gloves, etc... for a living for a shop in the US, and stains like that were a huge part of their business.

A tip for getting out most stains is to use a bar of cheap plain soap 👍🏼 it works every time on most things for me (even blood stains)
