Bonus wildlife scene: See if you can spot the fox having a poo in the cess at Brighouse!
The Northern Belle Settle and Carlisle Steam Special (Lincoln-Carlisle) ran today. Star of the show was SR Battle of Britain Class locomotive number 34067 "Tangmere".
Putting in a lot of miles today, I managed to observe the train at Lancaster and Penrith on the outward journey (train 1Z67) and Settle and Brighouse on the return journey (train 1Z69).
It is the first time I've been to Brighouse, but given the constraints of time, distance and light it was one of the few places I could reasonably get to after Settle. I have to say that I am really impressed at what a tidy, well-kept little station it is. Two Friends of Brighouse Station gardeners were tending to the flower displays and I commented to them what a lovely job they were doing.
The outward train was comprised of:
Lincoln Central to Carnforth: 47804 leading, 9 Northern Belle mark 1 Pullman coaches, 47815 "Great Western" on rear.
Carnforth to Carlisle: 34067 "Tangmere" leading, mark 1 crew support coach, 9 Northern Belle mark 1 Pullman coaches, 47815 "Great Western" on rear.
The return train was comprised of:
Carlisle to Blackburn: 34067 "Tangmere" leading, mark 1 crew support coach, 9 Northern Belle mark 1 Pullman coaches, 47815 "Great Western" on rear.
Blackburn to Lincoln Central: 47815 "Great Western" leading, 9 Northern Belle mark 1 Pullman coaches, 47804 on rear.
