I own one of these and an R32 GT-R V-Spec Skyline. Both of them are amazing. I love them both, and I love driving them both for vastly different reasons. The R32 has been my hero car since I was a teenager watching them smash ATCC wins, and eventually (around ten years ago) I was fortunate enough to buy an excellent, stock example - so I know that car very well. The STi Forester is a vastly more recent purchase. It’s not stock - decat downpipe, 3” turbo back, Tein Wagon coilovers, high flow STi intake. No tune on it yet though - standard ECU. It’s low kms (around 35k km) and it is TOTALLY NUTS! It is FAST. It’s easily the match of the Nissan. If the Nissan is 😎 then the STi Forester is 🤪 If you get a chance to buy a good one, or you have the skills to bring a tired one back to the condition it deserves to be in - don’t hesitate for a second. They are just superb. An incredibly engaging, loveable car too - just beyond excellent at, well, everything really.

8:39 this isn't a correct explanation of the AWD system. "Full time all wheel drive" doesn't mean "always AWD". It means that at all times there is always a division of power between the front and rear axles. It doesn't necessarily mean that both wheels on each axle are receiving power. It's important to know the difference between an "open differential" and a "limited slip differential". Each axle has a differential. An open differential will effectively give 100% of its input power to one wheel (there are some situations where it will split the power, but it requires a perfect balance of traction - rare). A limited slip differential will split the power between both wheels on the axle in various amounts of split. This vehicle has an open differential on the front, and an LSD on the rear. So effectively, this vehicle is 3-wheel-drive in most situations. Most Subaru models (below the WRX STi) have open differentials on the front and rear, so even though they are AWD, in most situations only 2 wheels are receiving power (one of the front, and one on the rear). This is true of almost all non-performance cars in the world.
