@@kylefernandes9116 So far the car has been great! Drove it for 2 years so far (stored in winter last year and same with this year). Drove about 8k miles, and no issues. It's been really reliable, and I drive it around the city a bunch and in the country/longer drive. The soft top itself does tear, mine came with a tear. I patched it myself and it is holding fine. I used flex tape, it doesn't look the best but I drive it with the top down as long as it's not raining, and even when it's cold out. Buy one if you can! The roadsters are really fun. Also for the gallery gasket I haven't noticed any issues there. I've now upgraded my Z to Brembos, hawkpads and some stickier tires and bigger wheels. Running Enkei GTC01s with tires 245/45/19 front and 275/35/19. Love it! Super happy with it, and it's my daily in the summer! Just do the basic maintenance, give it great gas and check on spark plugs and common maintenance items and you are golden.

As a 03 owner nissan actually replaced my trans and what you want is the CD009 trans just as a reference. It's not a huge issue but the one you glazed over was the window motors. Damn...those are a pain in the ass and go bad all the time. I've replaced them about 7-8 times between both sides. They just get burned out...and if you "clean" them...they go bad even quicker. Better just spend the money on new motors. Trying to sell mine now...As a 2003 model its a tough market to get what's its worth and it's well taken care of.

Hey man, I am from New Zealand and there is a Nissan 350z 2005 model on sale with 140,000km on it, but it is an auto. They are asking for $9,450 for it. Is that a bit high for an auto model? I know it is a car dealer but what price should I be looking at for an 05 auto 350z? Also anything specific I should look for when I have a look. I test drove it today and the only issues I found apart from cosmetic was just as I started driving it and I planted my foot, the car jolted slightly but it only did that once and it may have just been because engine was cold? It never did it the other times I put my foot on gas. The other thing was the exhaust smell when I got out of car was a bit stronger than what I thought it maybe should have been. I can send you link to have a look at the car if would like to? Haha :).

It's the options so different? And I would like to ask if the engine reliable even with high milleage on it? I have a bmw now and it's the kind of engine that last if you maintain properly, is it the same for 350z or should i look for something under 100000 km? Sorry i don't know how much is that in miles I am sorry if that wasn't clear.

Yeah, well it's gonna be complicated a litlle but I am used to plan a little trip to germany, my dad and I bought our cars there, we will figure something out to have time and check the car properly. I will try to grab some knowledge too about the engines and other commons problems like the ones you mention in the video. I saw that the tires on that one are pretty wasted on the edges in the photo with the little scratch on the front bumper, maybe it comes from the oversteer problem that comes from the factory or the bad alignment you talk about too.
@kova_motive
7 жыл бұрын
Yea, try and look it over in person if you have to ability to do so. Ask lots of questions and look over the car top to bottom. Yes, the tires are a good indication of the alignment. Could just need a good alignment but may want to jack up the car and make sure all the bushings are intact. If it has any bad joints or bushings, it won't be able to hold a good alignment. Good luck!

Hey alex, Really Enjoyed that Video, Interesting regarding base models, Had no idea the base had no LSD. Are Kms/Miles are big deal on these cars was one question that was sort of answered (the engines are fine) i noticed you never spoke about suspension or anything like that so would assume they are pretty solid... How many had your car done when you bought it etc?... Great video glad i could watch it thanks

Id aim for 2008 and just check the oil often. Just my oppinion of course. Be patient and you will end up with a good car. Dont rush into one.

@@julianmorales2652 the DE or RevUp engine on 2003-2006 models are just less reliable and have more problems. The HR engine on the 2007(and later) cars are much better overall, in terms of maintenance and reliability. Older engines tend to consume more oil and get less mileage too I believe.

Thank you for the video. One question, you state the 03-04 has a transmission reliability issue, does this issue apply to the automatic?

Not that I know of. The 5spd autos are pretty reliable in my experience.

My auto 350z I bought used has a bit of a clunky shift. Nothing serious, but it concerned me until I watched this video. You mentioned they are just simply built that way, and alleviated my concerns. Thank you for the awesome videos! Much appreciated!

Phillip Dockter Thanks for watching! I just want to make it clear that when I was referring to the transmission being clunky I was referencing the manual transmissions. I'm not too familiar with the 5spd autos. They might shift clunky but I'm not sure. Wish you the best of luck!

I just got an 06 Z, and did the oil changed. how many miles do you recommend for every oil change?
@kova_motive
7 жыл бұрын
I check my oil level every time I fill up with gas and change it every 4k miles with amsoil. This is overkill but i like having peace of mind so I'm ok spending the extra money for more frequent oil changes.
@JamesLikesDonuts

I have an 06 too, and for me I just check when my oil is low and just change the whole thing (usually about 2,500-3,000 miles cause the car just eats oil)
@kova_motive

Its not too horrible. If anything, it encourages more frequent oil changes which I'm not opposed to. Thanks for watching!

Besides a "chance" at one that burns abit of oil, the problem will be that its a fun car that will have you out driving even when you dont have a reason to go anywhere lol

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the automatic performance/reliability. I've never had or driven one. Engine wise, it's the same and will be reliable if maintained.

Ancient Revive fuck what he says! Get it! It was my 3rd car but the Z has never failed me! It's a great 1st car! Maintenance is basic, nothing fancy! I tend to do most of it myself however since I know a bit about mechanical work! I'm 20 and I love it! You might be thinking insurance as well but just get its with your parents! It'll be a lot less expensive!
