LockPickingLawyer after you said That Mul-T-lock made service keys, I had to check my friends house key as he has an interactive series lock on his house. And thankfully it isn't. Great picking as always. Zach.

Well i'e seen vids of those challenge locks that people put security pins and stuff like that, so im curious as to how it's done. But im guessing you first need to see the very basic stuff before going into those locks.

+Danny G Thanks, and welcome to the party. Fwiw, my gym locker bears an American lock Series 5300, or a Commando lock IC3 Tactical (w/ shackle guard)... the later is probably harder to pick (see my video #133). 👍

Nope. Interactive element is for key control only. Actually makes picking easier because you know where that pin sets.

Does the heavy tension you use not damage the picking tools?
@xG33Kx
7 жыл бұрын
Tension doesn't put stress on the picks, just the tension wrench
@BD90..

xG33Kx So would it be pushing to hard with the pick that can cause the pickb snapping?
@NoctisMotus
7 жыл бұрын
Using a lot of tension and trying to force the pin into place can cause picks to bend or break. Usually you find the binder and then slowly release tension while applying pressure with the pick. Then reapply the tension after the pin has been picked and look for the next binding pin. Trying to pick the warding can cause a lot of damage too. :)
@lockpickinglawyer

Heavy tension can damage my picks. I've broken one dimple pick, and one Peterson .025" while picking locks under extreme tension. I've certainly bent some .015" picks, but never broken one. It's the trade off.

5 pin cores will not fit. There are quite a few MTL padlocks that use 4/8 pin cores.

A locksmith, if they will cut one for you. A better source might be ebay. Locks are often sold with them... sometimes not represented as such, and sometimes with full disclosure. I just did a search for "Mul-T-Lock service key" and found 6 active ebay auctions.

Souber picks are the ones that are rated high. I vouch for their quality. www.lockpickcanada.com/product_p/uk-mul-t.htm

Mark, they are indeed high quality. They are a bit flimsy for my tension-heavy picking style, however. I'm also not a big fan of the flat shafts' tendency to lift pins that I don't intend to lift. That's probably more an issue of me not being careful, but it was very annoying in radically bitted MTL's. I prefer the SpooXe picks that I am currently using, but that's a matter of personal preference.
@markleng67
7 жыл бұрын
You *do* have a heavy tension style, no doubt! I'm still trying it out. I'm currently half into heavy tension and half out. My picking success has deteriorated as a result of the ambivalence. It's all a learning process and heavy tension works for you for sure. I'm trying to find *my place* in terms of tension. Your skill is far beyond mine but I learn more from every video you produce. I will check out the SpooXe picks see what happens. I was working on an Abus dimple lock tonight and heavier tension is definitely the way to go. Guess I'm gonna have to raid the piggy bank again! LOL... Thanks much!
