Not sure where to ask this question, but I was pregnant with twins in my first pregnancy (2019). At our first ultrasound they saw that one baby was growing normally and the other had stopped growing a little bit before (one baby had a very baby shape, the other looked more like a tadpole). I was able to deliver a completely healthy little girl last March. I'm now pregnant again, and I was wondering if I'm likely to have a twin pregnancy again? I had at one time read that if you e had or carried twins at any point, that you're twice as likely to carry or birth twins the next time. There's also a history of twins in both my family and my husband's. I don't have my first OB appointment for another two weeks, and at that point I should be about 7 weeks, and I don't think they'll do an ultrasound (I didn't get one with my first pregnancy until I was around 10 weeks).

If you were pregnant with twins spontaneously before, you definitely have a chance of being pregnant with twins again. Are twins common in your family?

@@Twiniversity Not common, necessarily, but my dad's grandmother carried multiple sets of twins.

@@katherynyoung9923 it's possible you inherited the gene for hyper ovulation. I hope you get what you wanted!

Hi Katheryn, first of all CONGTATS on your pregnancy! Yes, it is possible, but not definite. We have plenty of folks at Twiniversity that have two sets of twins #twinstwice even a few folks who've had THREE sets! I can't wait to see what your doc says in a week. Keep us posted!!!! YAY!!! -Nat
