In doing research for this I learned there are already pancake printers. I am so ready to accept this future.

That must be a ton of work to clean all the tubes in a 3D food printer. Me: *Sticks entire 3D printer in the dishwasher*

I admire your restraint in not mentioning Star Trek-style replicators here, but that's all I could think of once you mentioned "meat printers"

So cool that you worked with Merck! I live kind of close to Darmstadt and it is a big employer in the area, sponsoring a lot of good cultural activities as well. If they ever invite you to visit their facilities, I'd love a chance to say hi to you. So long, another great video under your belt - have been watching your content for years and it is always worthwhile to make time for it!

Thank you Dr. Dainis. This is something we can show our students in our Outreach Programs when talking about the novel uses for 3D printers.

Those laser 3D printers are how metal 3D printers usually work. The machine lays out a thin layer of metal dust, the laser flash melts the metal dust together in the spots it turns on. Once that layer is done it lays out another layer of dust and starts over, this time the new layer being hit is sintered to the first. Once your object is finished in that printer it is not done yet! You need to bake it at the right temp to let the crystals flow together so it isn’t this highly brittle useless model.

Considering we have mapped “taste” on the tongue, why not just print food that has the maximal flavour in the correct zones for our tastebuds, making the whole “foodie” experience more efficient?
