Thanks so much for all of the positive feedback. Thanks to community members posting on GitHub, some bugs, typos and errors have been caught and fixed. New features have already been added with plenty more to come in the future.

You are awesome! This is exactly what the community needed. Thank you so much! Maybe you can include deltas in the future, they are a different beast but auto-calibration of the bed surface has come a long way in most flavors of firmware and often works perfectly on machines that are well built and equipped with precision z-probes using smoothieware (LSQ fork for calibration) and RepRapFirmware. In my experience it's better to calibrate temperature before retraction though, because temperature has such a high impact on stringing, especially with PLA which is the most commonly used filament. Keep up the excellent work. :)

Thank you so much for the work and thought you have put into this. My question... I have stock firmware and boards on my ender 3p and Anet A8. How do I change my gcode firmware. Do I have to go to marlin? What program is used to interface with the printer?

This is truly awesome! I used Dr. Lex calibration guide for my FFCP and had very good results but with my new ender 5 pro it was not straight forward application for other printers (different firmware etc). This is the awesome counterpart for marlin and just what was needed! I have a request, so many of the turnings are hot end dependent. How hard would it be to add different nozzle diameters? Say a .8 or .6 or .2 nozzles?

Is it possible to get the settings that the baseline cube was printed with? I got a pretty good print using that, but an extremely ugly print using my own slicer settings.

This is absolutely impressive, and I don't think anyone can say otherwise. This is what 3D printer manufactures should have developed years ago. But, as always with this tech, the community had to dedicate the time and energy to ensure everyone has access to the tools and information needed to get the full potential out of their machines. We truly thank you for this; you've done an excellent job.

WOW - and thank you so much. All of us have tried at least one of these calibrations at some stage. But never have I sat down and did a structured "start to finish" complete printer calibration. Fantastic to have this one-stop shop tool. My printer is complete self design from scratch soooo - the opportunity for some funnies was right there. And boy did I fix some. I cant for the life of me work out why I must use a 66% flow rate in Cura, despite perfect 100mm Extruder calibration, brand new Micro Swiss 0.4mm nozzle and quality filament. And that is with everything else also perfectly calibrated. mmmmm

This is the single most comprehensive guide on getting started with 3D printing that I've ever seen. I got an Ender 3 V2 almost 3 years ago and had an on-and-off relationship with it, as it never operated the way I wanted it to and I was completely thrown off by the troubleshooting process, as it's somewhat complex to grasp from a newbie point of view. This guide actually got me up and running, thanks so much!

The stepper motor current bit is kind of out of place IMO. It's like if you had a driving course: 1. How to accelerate. 2. How to brake. 3. How to steer. 4. How to do a 180° burnout in a torrential downpour at night, while injured. 5. Parallel parking.

I love your devotion and commitment to develop such a guide! My only comment would be the assumption that a 0.4 nozzle would yield a single wall thickness of 0.4. In reality because of die swell, it should be 0.48 mm. This should be changed IMHO.

Due to Ender 3 (pro, V2 or any version) alignment is essential and tight but not overtight is essential, you should emphatize more on that and give advice on how to have all aligned as with the video and page description on "Frame check" on the website does not cover it. Sure other videos from other users cover the "X Gantry Rework", as into how to straighten the vertical frames, and have all in correct alignment. Have been a week trying to find the problem on my ender and it was a vertical frame not aligned with the other one and the horizontal rail where the X axis was not horizontal. All this causing unconsistent bed leveling. Finally perfect or really nice prints!!!, Take the advise as a positive thing!!. All the other videos and guide in the website is Great!! Thank you very much for your work they are very detailed and very well explaned.!!!

Excellent video. Consider adding Retraction Prime Speed to your Retraction calibration. Cura for example defaults to the same prime speed as the retraction speed. Reducing the prime speed can reduce stringing and zits. Edit: I'll add the comment to the GitHub as requested. I'll leave the comment here as it counts towards interaction in YT algorithms.

I've been having trouble with dimensioning and tolerances and discovered a flaw in the way we calibrate the e-steps. When we measure only one object we're not accounting for the fixed offset from over/under extrusion (there will be some). The only way to get the scaler for the e-steps separated from the fixed offset is to make at least 2 objects and plot a linear regression for each axis...y=mx+b where "m" is the scaler for the e-steps and "b" is the fixed offset for the "horizontal offset" line in the slicer.

Love the website. Something that would make it even more perfect for me would be an option to do a wipe line before the print begins as, even though there is a simple skirt, my extruder sometimes doesn’t fire up straight away or has a small amount extruder that needs wiping off. Small point because the rest is brilliant.

Also, when you do your Retraction Tuning gcode, don't think you should move from the home position to the start position at Z0. This could be dangerous if someone hasn't properly leveled their bed. Think it would be better if you came up a little, then moved to your start position, then moved down and began your towers. Just think it would be a safer approach ... Would also be nice if you displayed where you were in the Retraction Tuning process on the LCD.

Thank you for the detailed testing procedures and information you are providing. I'm definitely going to use your site for calibrating my printer. I have a single question though: I know this is the best I can get for now from FDM 3d printing technologies available in terms of calibration but do most of these values depend on the filament itself (same material type, but still so different in it's category) ? E.g.: in the extruder calibration test it seems quite obvious to me that, as I own a PLA that is quite soft when bending it and even feel like I can scratch it with my nails if I want to, and another PLA that feels pretty much like glass, and I won't be surprised if the second one would be more slippery to the extruders' teeth than the first one.

Hey Great Jacket, named my daughter Senna. Anyway. Just bought a 3d printer (FLSun Q5) assembled it a couple weeks ago... (2 am purchase... it's only $200 something... that looks cool) finally plugged it in yesterday. so Here I am, day after turning it on for first time realizing I have no idea what to do next.... I think it did some sort of calibration... (I hope to see this comment a month from now and be stunned how dumb I sounded) So my Quad builder said to check you out as THE place to start. here I am... Just took the Red Pill... Where am I??? Let's See where this Rabbit Hole leads. Alice?
