Very neatly explained... Thank you for your concern... You could have used some other method to fix the bush bearings to the platforms, instead the tags, which may get loose due to heat and over a period, resulting in unwanted play. 2. For aluminium frames may get loose and distorted shape over a period Ike the partition panes and doors. Leading to error in shape of the item. Araldite may be used to fix the joints.

Nicely done till now. But there is one big fault, nearly everyone makes: When you connect an AC powercord to anything ... be sure, that the longest wire is the PE! (yellow/green, earth, ground ... whatever you call it) Because then, it will be the last one getting ripped off at any kind of physical influence to the cable! Your PE is the shortest one :( Not good man. If the PE is ripped off, everything still works fine. But when it comes to an short ... you have no protection! Touching for example the casing could kill you instantly or even a few hours later! (If you thing that's a joke ... google it) Keep that in mind. Everybody out there! I'm serious about that.

Shit only now I realized these wires go directly to the outlet. Honestly I would consider this as incredibly dangerous even if he puts the long one to ground. Any power supply that doesn't have a built in extension for the outlet secured with plastic is a death trap.
@LT72884
5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you got a point. If a wire shorts out in that 20 amp psu, then yeah, it could kill you. Best way to protect is to use a gfci outlet. They pop at 0.03 amps.

@RZtronics Very interesting build! I like that you are fabricating the majority of your printer's parts. You may want to come up with a different method of attaching the bearings though, there seems to be a lot of play and wobble in the axes movement. But I think if you fix that issue it would be a viable low-cost machine. Great content!

For all those who were search ing dimensions you can take any but bigger than 20inch. Steps uploaded to Arduino are same and take care heat bed placement settings. The base should be minimum 20×20inch (From base I meant to say the area where heat bed is fixed.) And height should be roughly 25inch(min) . Acrylic sheet mount should be taken in respect of stepper motors. That's all rest you can check. In video. He night not wanted to reveal the lengths or he knew we can take any.

Tye-raps to hold the linear bearings thats not rigid enough & will make the 3D-prints sloppy. You could have instead used some plastic or copper u-shaped pipe holders. Also the sheet metal screws that go into the thin wall square aluminum tubing will loosen up over time causing more precision problems.
@AlienWacker

Just a suggestion - those zip ties holding the bearings to the motor mounts look a little wobbly. You might want to 3D print yourself some holders... Otherwise looks great so far! Looking forward to part 3!

Why not use industrial strength epoxy or liquid metal/plastic with hardener to affix the rod bushing/bearings to bed and extruder/hotend plates instead of zip ties? It would be more consistent, and accurate on prints. Zip ties would allow flex, yielding inaccurate prints later. Hope first things your printed where new mounting bits to replace zip ties

More Advice: The way he sets up the power supply is a HUGE safety issue. The way he wires it makes it so that the only way to turn it off is to unplug it. There is no shield which makes it even worse. I would get a iec with a switch and a cover like this one, www.thingiverse.com/thing:2444570, or buy one online so that if your print goes wrong there is a kill switch. There are many tutorials on youtube to wire it. EDIT again: pls... dimensions
