Hi Bill, the rough surface on the top of the sign is probably casued by your print head being to close (Z offset) it can be adjusted when its being printed or in the gcode setting for printer. I had a similar problem when i started with my K1C, it might be worth running the calibration wizard again that you ran when you first setup the printer. It is worth checking the underside of the magnetic removable print bed as if theres bits of dust or debribe there it will mess with the Zoffset. What software are you using to slice the your prints?

more likely the flow is set too high. top layers like that are a classic sign of overextrusion. first layers like that are a sign of the z-offset being too low.
