I spent the last 24 hrs pouring over tuts and dicking around with avenza in PS only to come back to arcgis. Thank you for this.

Living Atlas has a world wide terrain DEM if you cant find what your looking for in USGS. Just zoom to your area and export as a new raster {4999 by 4999 max)

Awsome, the trick of overlaying a colored version of the DTM - and increasing transparency is useful. Now - you should do a similar video using a Digital Surface Model - especially in areas with buildings, bridges etc - to get a 3D view of the actual scene - not just the ground. Combine with a viewshed analysis for more fun.

So, among many other things, ArcGIS Pro is great at map making, with 3D topography. That's really damn cool! Does it cost anything to download the USGS files?

Nope! USGS DEM files are free thanks to paying taxes!

Hi, I clicked on the download link in the USGS site which created some files in my ArcPro Catalog pane but these files didn't look (different icon symbol ) like your example in the video. Also, they would not drag and drop to the map pane. Please consult. Thanks, Will

Actually, this is not the solution. 3D can only be displayed through your background elevation surface. When you look at the contents, you see raster data is still under the 2D layers instead of 3D!
