Any tips for actually finding a reasonably-priced 4R? The 3rd gens with ~200K miles around me are still selling for upwards of 7K... im pretty broke, so thats outta my price range haha EDIT: I found an '02 Sport Edition with 255K miles back in march for $2500!! As you can see in my profile picture, I took advantage of that deal hahaha... It's been an amazing car so far:) thanks for the help, yall!!

Cameron S here is my take, 1.patience and be on the look (almost every day, trust me others are doing the same making it hard to get in on a gem) 2. clist/fb marketplace/ drive lots and be on the lookout. 3. have the cash ready to make a purchase and be knowledgeable going in so you don’t grab something that will be a money pit in repairs. 4. Sub if you haven’t 🤣.. hope to bring some other things in a cpl upcoming vids to help ppl out getting to know these- Thanks for taking the time to ask!

Friend of mine had a guy put a new alternator on your car. It starts and runs great now. But when you press the pedal in drive or reverse you get no response whatsoever. Could this cable be the problem? Or is something else more likely. It’s an 04 four runner sr5
@JLeeChron
3 жыл бұрын
04 4RUNNER is a different setup, so probably not a cable isssue, although its easy to check for play... may be an electronic/sensor issue or some require the complete throttle body to be replaced (ie 03/04 Tacomas) Sorry cant help more

So for the 1999 version with the little skinny wire on the back and the thicker wire up front, do we need to tighten both wires or just the thick one? The skinny back wire is looser on mine than the front thick one, but both are relatively loose.
@JLeeChron
2 жыл бұрын
Neither should be super loose… the smaller going to passenger side is your transmission kickdown cable. The larger (going to the throttlebody from your accelerator) would be primary focus. There are specs as to free play. Don’t have them atm, but this is usually an overlook and can make a bit of difference all other things up to spec- It will probably be obvious if both are abnormally loose. Thanks

J Lee Chronicles The video you have posted of the air intake really helped alot. I was having bank 1 error for lean air or something. After watching your video i checked under my hood and sure enough my Air Intake Hose was dry rotted in a spot and it had a big hole by the throttle body. I have some new hose coming in today. So hopefully that will be a simple fix. Gonna check my timing belt also. And it looks like i still have my original radiator. But i dont see no signs of leakage. Over all this truck runs great to have 230k miles on it. So thanks for the videos. Mitch

@JLeeChron

Paul Gomez further check out: Wheel bearings. Definitely dbl check the balance on the tires too- when new they are stiff and aftter a cpl 1000 miles the balance can be off. Also is the frame rusty? If so you may want to check out the rear suspension perches to make sure the frame is not rotting away. Also perhaps the front lower ball joints. Success to you
