@JoeBob79569
4 жыл бұрын
@@aashleysaggar1836 Yea, it's supported, but you probably won't get too much performance benefit, depending on how good or bad your specific chip is. It's probably best to read guides and watch videos to figure out how to do it. And some manufacturers have different names for different voltages and settings options. You might need to figure out what each of these are. In general you'll just raise the clock speed multiplier (as high as it'll go, no danger with this) and the cpu voltage (bur not too much past 1.4v depending on your temperatures). And maybe raise the LLC to avoid the voltage dropping during heavy loads. A lot of people just overclock because they like messing around with tech, so they enjoy researching and experimenting with it. Any 3rd gen Ryzen overclocking tutorial should work for any 3rd gen Ryzen cpu so any settings you see being changed should set you on the right track. You can do it in the bios, or with RyzenMaster. Ryzen master is probably quicker and easier, but most purists prefer to do it in the bios. OldSchool...

@JoeBob79569
4 жыл бұрын
@@aashleysaggar1836 Haha.. No problem. You could just set your voltage to about 1.37-1.38v and just raise the multiplier as far as it will go to like, 44, 45, 46 etc.. This should be totally safe. The voltage that the motherboard itself sets is usually about 1.45v! Some people don't think this is a safe voltage, but I think it varies automatically; This is because the board manufacturers HAVE to set it high so that EVERY chip will ALWAYS boot and be stable, even for the worst silicone\chips.. So most of the time it's too high anyway. You'll often see videos of people with their chips running at 1.45v and idling at about 45c. This is crazy! Even if I'm not overclocking I'll usually lower the voltage a little bit, to wherever, it's stable. Assuming I don't have the worst chip that's ever been manufactured!

Hey did you ever even get it overclocked? I mean a real overclock, not sustaining its advertised boost speeds. Having been 3 years now I am starting to be salty about this. I got what I got mostly out of performance and value but I was really hoping to extend the longevity by eventually overclocking, and it's proving to me AMD may end up aging on Zen2 like Ampere is aging with its VRAM. I think if I'd wanted a well oiled machine that ages gracefully maybe I'd have considered a powerful overclocking machine on like, idk 9900k? I guess 10th gen Intel was just so underwhelming for the cost, it was pointless. I don't even remember seeing 8 SATA port boards for 10th gen, and it didn't even have 4th gen PCIe lanes iirc. But, if it was cheaper, I'd absolutely have gone with a 9900k and just overclocked it, it's just that would've forced me to eventually replace my whole system, rather than the other main reason why I went with AMD, not because its CPU was so great, as much as I expected the SOCKET to age gracefully, and it actually has. Like Intel was never going to age so well as AM4 did and is the main reason I'm glad I switched, because it basically just means I have my choice of a 5900x for savings/power/thermals, a 5950x for full core high clocks at expense of not being able to use my Wraith Prism at all, and 5800X3D for full on gaming monster* *select vcache using titles that apply, see EULA for details, may not apply to games that need high clockspeed Idk I'm swinging to 5950x now, probably once it's down to 300-$200 I may spring for it as I still don't need new CPU, mainly for clocks, but I'd need to know how to actually disable the one CCX so I can set it to have really high clocks on one game with 8cores and then set a different all core profile with the other use cases.

The worst part is that Dell's gaming pcs that have the 9900 and 9900k as an option, charge you $100 more to upgrade from the 9900 to the 9900k even though they cost the same from intel! Plus they advertise the 9900 as being 5.0 ghrz and the 9900k as 4.7 ghrz. For people who dont know intels cpu lineup that's super misleading!

Does that mean he's allowed to OC the 9900K as well using the same amount of money? Also, what tests are you looking for, gaming FPS? If so it's already been shown that the 9900K beats the 3900X by up to 16% for FPS in games
@SirNickyT
5 жыл бұрын
@@cortneysauk7533 OC the 9900k is self explanatory isnt it? Is there a point to owning one if you dont? If I didnt OC mine I'd sell it and get a cheaper one. 16% is quite generous. I got that in like 3 titles. The rest it was ahead by 3-8% and even lost in a few. That's why'd I'd be interested to see what Anthony does with OC the 3900x vs it. I've been waiting for the 3950x but it'd still be interesting. A lot of ppl are down on OC this gen of ryzen but personally I'm really intrigued in how different and challenging it is and its promising to see theres real gains to be had. It's not the same ol intel stuff we've been doing for a decade which is fun. Might have to get both the 3900 and 3950 since intel isnt giving me anything exciting until next year lol. Mind you I've been an intel loyalist since I was a kid but i do have a 2700x and 3600 too. I just like having fun with them.

i know the information presented to me is valuable and accurate based on the reception, but i cannot follow it. after the mention of memory overclocking my brain just felt like i was too far into the unknown neck of the woods, and i slowly became unsure of my ability to understand what you were saying. as a visual learner, it usually helps me tremendously when i use numbers that pop up on the screen as necessary actions are presented to me, and then put all actions in a numbered, chronological list that’s easy to find (maybe a comment or description so I can ask my fellow viewers for advice on the exact part i least understand as i go) that helps to switch my brain into a logical order and basically use completed steps as milestones which help both with keeping the learner encouraged and capable of finding what part i’m stuck on specifically rather than be intimidated by the process as a whole. your production value is amazing and i really appreciate you taking time out of your day to help us out. my inability to oc after this had everything to do with me and nothing to do with your presentation or information. i’m sure many people were able to walk away with a boosted cpu after this. keep up the great work!

Tnx for the awesome video! It helped a lot. I went to Manual, overclocked all cores to 4.3, on 3700x, and adjusted voltage to 1.35. And it works just fine(stock cooler). It wouldn't go over 4.2 on single-core by itself in the past, checking on CPU-Z. Happy to see I can actually get what is advertised by AMD. And This video was very helpful. Now on Cine 20, I get 5156. It was at 4667 before. ( Now I just need to find out, my memory clock(OC ed that too) actually increased performance.)

1.325 is not safe for an allcore overclock on ryzen 3000; this video is old; people have degraded chips at as low as 1.27v, the max recommended allcore voltage is 1.25
@cupiddust7706

@@skilos69 Not at all true, Ryzen chips the new Ryzen 3600, 3700 to 3950, should at least be at 1.3 and up. These are different than other types of chips that used 1.0 v for factory settings. So if you go lower than 1.3 you will crash. Also, the motherboards make so much difference for how the overclock works, their settings for the multiplier, and voltage control have a huge effect on the stability and higher clock you can achieve. I had an MSI b450 that would crash without overclocking all the time, after changing to a gigabyte 570 I can overclock and have much stable system. 3700x, single-core c 20 510, all core 5176. My current overclock is 4.325 all cores at 1.425 voltage, open case, stock cooler, highest won't go over 90 degrees, stable but a better cooler is needed for longevity. Good luck overclockers.
