Went from K02 to Cooper AT3 to Wrangler ultra. The KO2 and wrangler ultra are very similar in performance and the Cooper AT3 isn't far behind. But the price of the Cooper AT3 reflects that. I'm currently running the wrangler ultra now but if I have to choose between the wrangler ultra and K02....I'd go with the wrangler ultra and use that extra money saved on gas. 😎

I have the Goodyear ultraterrain on my 2005 4runner, 275/60r20 and I’m very pleased with them, they run smooth and super quiet, did well in heavy rain and also snow and do really well with daily driving. I am pretty confident they will be rugged if I did go off road also. The ultra terrain is the same rubber compound as the wrangler duratrac with a more road friendly tread.

Jmho, but I think the KO2s are more balanced between on and off road use; and, the All Terrains lean toward off road a bit more. Would be nice to compare road noise/sound. I would say if most of your driving is on dirt roads or off road, go with the All Terrains; but, if you drive mostly on highway and just go off road once a month or so, KO2s. Between these two tires. I chose a different brand to meet my needs although I've long been a fan of Goodyear Tires.

That's exactly why I'm going to purchase the Ultraterains for my 3rd gen 4Runner. Every little bit of rotating mass makes a big difference especially on a tired old and underpowered engine. Lesson learned from my current 17" wheel setup, I'm going back down to a 16" rim and with the Ultraterrain's I'm going to loose about 20lbs per corner. I spent an afternoon looking at tire weights and my choice was either this or the Toyo Open Country AT III, at 41lbs.

I do like the looks of the UltraTerrain tires and am considering them for my truck. Your comments suggest the UT’s are more “rugged” and “beefy” than the KO2’s. Without facts to support those claims, they’re simply opinions. I’d be interested in finding the actual details on sidewall construction & strength of the UT’s before saying that they’re more rugged. To me, the sidewall lugs on the UT look more show than go. Happy to see another option available; but if I had to bet money on which tire between those two would ACTUALLY be more durable, I’d bet on the KO2.
@DrivenCompanion
5 жыл бұрын
I'm only talking appearance. The sidewalls of the KO2s are actually thicker so probably more durable in off-road applications, but the they also weigh an extra 3 lbs each, so mpgs will take more of a hit
