******************Update!!!!************************
They did a re-recall on the original recall indicating that ford motor company may not have properly fixed the issue the first recall. The 2nd recall was to fix that. Its stupid because they fixed 3 of the doors properly under my warranty previously, but now they're ripping that repair out completely just to make sure its done correctly. It should have been done correctly the first time, not the 3rd. Anywho, it also indicates that if it is still a problem and you attempted to fix it after the first recall, you will get reimbursed by ford for those repairs. If you attempted repairs after the first recall, you need to sent those original receipts to ford motor company in order to get the reimbursement. This will work with any door latch repairs done under your extended warranty. The dealership tried to give me a hard time but after sending all 3 invoices and after 5 months of waiting, I got my money back.

Despite this issue being fixed under a recall prior to me buying this car, each door latch stops working. Apparently many ford fusions, focus and explorers have had this issue and even made the news.
What happens is the door won't latch and stay closed. It never randomly opens when driving( thank god). It only stops working randomly when you open the door and then try to close it. After that it will not stay closed and will swing open when driving. Even when try to push the latch to the lock position it won't stay like its supposed to, or it does stay, the door handle wont reset it like a good functioning door.
If this happens, I have used bungie cords to try to keep the door shut while driving back streets to the dealership. When I can take it in to the dealership or autoshop, my car alarm wont work correctly because the door is not staying shut (also could go off during the night randomly as a false alarm). As a result, I have have to use the regular auto lock with bungie cords over night and prey no one tries to break in to my car.
Its useless to try to contact Ford motor company to get this fixed "free." According to the national highway administration because this vehicle's vin has already been deemed fixed under the recall, ford motor company wont fixed it for free. What the dealership told me that no one else did, is that the recall only replaced a small portion of the door latch and not the whole thing. In other words it will still be issue if the the whole thing wasn't replaced. Ford knows this too.
However I had extended warranty which covers the door latch repair, yet I have to pay $100 deductible each door this happens too. This being the third time meaning I have $300 for(3 doors) an issue that SHOULD have been fixed.
Негізгі бет 3rd time my 2014 Ford Focus has a door latch that stopped working! (5/24/20)
