1. I've made individual tutorials for 3-style corners and edges, as well as a spreadsheet to help you learn. Check them out: Corners: kzitem.info/news/bejne/mHyDu21ms5qZiqg Edges: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tJuHv5-eiZ6FhYo 2. M2 for edges is quite good, so once you learn that you should learn 3-style for corners (or Orozco: check description) before 3-style for edges. M2 edges + 3-style corners follows the same parity method as shown in the video. 3. Do NOT try to learn 3-style as algorithms. Learn them intuitively with commutators, and learn the common types of cases you can setup to (like U or D interchange for corners, and 4-movers for edges). Sighted solves can help a lot, and qqtimer.net has corner-only/edge-only scrambles under "3x3 subsets". 0:31 Commutator Types 2:12 Corners Example 4:44 Edges Example 7:09 Parity Example 9:10 Parity Steps Review

I’m really drawn to this method from a mathematics/cube theory perspective, as there’s something satisfyingly “pure” about a method that can be done with almost entirely intuitively. I’ve only done a couple successful Old Pochman attempts but I think I’m gonna give this a go to hopefully recapture some of the “discovery” I felt when f2l clicked for me

Great video overall, but I would disagree with what you said at the end of the video about not using comm lists to learn. From my experience, messing around with intuitive comms is really just a waste of time because most of the ones that you may come up with are very slow. Actually sitting down and learning from a list takes a bit of time, but in the long run, I believe that you will save time by not needing to go back and fix all of your bad comms.

You should never “set up” to a pll, you should however, if you do not know the parity alg for the case, solve the last target using a comm that would end on the UBR sticker, that way, UFR and UBR are swapped, as well as the UF and UR (as shown in the video) so you would only have to do a j perm.
@ChrisChoi123

I'm always so confused by some advice with 3 style. From my knowledge, the commutators of 3 style are one of the most heavily and aggressively optimized move sets in cubing because of several reasons; yet people always say to learn it more intuitively and to make your own coms from nothing. Wouldn't it be better to have a speed optimal list of coms, but to specifically read them as the intuitive movements to memorize them easier just the same as making them? So that way you actually learn the ideal ones to begin with, and avoid throwing away a bunch when you replace them with better ones you eventually find out about?
@鄧南英
5 жыл бұрын
Yes. You should learn the comms not really algorithmically or intuitively, but somewhere in between, where you can understand the symmetrical structure of the comm so the inverse is easy to remember. For example [D: [R U R', D2]], the inverse is just change both D to D'. There is no reason to use a slow comm and have to transition. It's really hard to disassociate away the memory of the old comm. Just start with the best algs from the start.

Instead of UF UR swap for parity, which is very inefficient and bad, you should use UL UB swap. Timothy Goh (4BLD) has a good tutorial on this. With 3 style, you can do this and then execute last corner target with OP.
@ryanfarish5433
5 жыл бұрын
The UL UB swap is only good if you're using UBL as your corner buffer
@griffin.9248
5 жыл бұрын
@@ryanfarish5433 Ah, didn't think about that. Any other suggestions? Maybe y2 in to OP for last corner target with UF UR swap?
@鄧南英
5 жыл бұрын
@@griffin.9248 if you use OP for example your buffer is UBL/UF then you can either directly do UB/UL swap or still do UF/UR swap and then do Z perm to leave UB and UL swapped for last OP target. But for the best buffers (UFR/UF), the fastest parity method that is commonly used, is to swap UF/UR and do a parity alg that swaps UF/UR and UFR/any other corner.
