Today, for the first time, I had to google "youtube maximum description length" (which is 5000 characters, and I had 7700 at first). FMC 2019 (1 competition held all around the world) is this weekend and I hoped to get this last FMC video out sooner but I had to redo it a few times. Good luck to all of you who are participating!

This is really next level. At least for my brain. I am practicing commutators, but it'll be a long ride, 'till I've mastered them. Keep it up. I love it! How about 2x2 FMC? Or 4x4 FMC lol
@JPerm
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Some people have tried FMC for other events but it's not an official WCA event so there's not much incentive to get good at it. I think for 4x4 what people do is a low move count reduction + regular FMC on 3x3, not sure though since it's so rare to see anyone talk about it. For 2x2 I think if you know optimal CLL/EG/TCLL etc. then you just apply those algs.
@puerlatinophilus3037

@@JPerm Thanks to your comment, I just learned about TCLL. But yeah. If the WCA removes feet, they should imo replace it with 4x4 FMC or 4x4 OH.

I have been working on incorporating ZZ ideas into my skeletons and so far, EOL dramatically lessens the pain of trying to solve the last edges and you can usually find a good case. EOL can be performed right away or after a 2x2 block, and you can orient the left and right layer solved stuff any way you want since it's a skeleton anyway. For example, I got a 17 move skeleton with 6 corners yesterday and set a new PB (34 moves. I'm not terribly good at cancelling moves lol). Today, I am working on a 19 move skeleton with 5 corners so I am hopefully going to break that PB since 2 extra moves while going from 3 cycles to two is obviously better. In short, orienting the edges early while you still have a lot of freedom in your unsolved layers is worth it because solving the last edges is much easier, and I have also had more luck with corner and edge pairs popping up when switching between scrambles.

My usual advice for people starting out is to make videos that you think people will want to watch, even if they aren't invested in you as a person. For example, don't just copy what PewDiePie does, because he's allowed to make certain content on the basis that people are interested in him as a person. When he started, he had to have a unique and compelling idea, which was his horror game playthroughs with crazy reactions. So try to find what you can provide that doesn't already exist. Or do what I tried to do when I started, which is find what already exists but try to make it even better.

I have done 5 fmc solves, the first 3 using only cfop, i got 2 54 and a 51, then using blockbuilding and oll and pll got a 41, then i just did this scramble with skeletons and insertions. could anyone critique the solve? It was 39 moves. Scramble: L D L F U' L B' U D2 R' B L2 D2 F2 U2 D2 F' L2 B' U2 Inverse scramble: U2 B L2 F D2 U2 F2 D2 L2 B' R D2 U' B L' U F' L' D' L' I did F D' R' F D' on the inverse to get my first block Then on the normal scramble i did L' R U R L, and U2 F' U' F U2 for f2-1 on the inverse i did U' F U to insert the last f2l edge. this left me with 4 corners and 3 edges. My skeleton was: L' R U R L U 2 F' U' F U F' ^ U D F' R D F' ^ this was my first commutator: F' D' B2 D F D' B2 D new skeleton: L' R U R L U 2 F' U' F ^ U F2 D' B2 D F D' B2 D U D F' R D F' ^second commutator: F D F' D' U2 D F D' F' U 2 new skeleton: L' R U R L U2 F' U' F2 D F' D' U2 D F D' F' U' F2 D' B2 D F D' B2 D U D ^ F' R D F' R D F' ^ edge commutator: F2 B2 U' F U F' F2 B2 F D' F' D Final solution( i was able to cancel some moves because of D U D, can cancel to D2 U , and in the edge commutator there were alot of F moves that canceled to a F2) :L' R U R L U2 F' U' F2 D F' U2 F D' F' U' F2 D' B2 D F D' B2 D2 U F2 B2 U' F U F2 B2 D' F' D F' R D F' 39 moves final solution
@JPerm
5 жыл бұрын
Looks good, but edge commutators should always be 10 moves (2 slices and 2*3 outer turns). In this case you can do F2 B2 U' F U F2 B2 D' F' D. You properly canceled it all away so it makes no difference, but just make sure you're only searching for 10 move edge comms (3 moves to solve the odd piece)
@JPerm
5 жыл бұрын
Also anytime you get a large amount of corners + edges, you can try doing rNISS as I described in my newest video. There are examples in the description of that video!
