Absolutely incredible, I saw the other video of that same location when the Tsunamis hit and the huge one that just wiped out all the buildings, terrifying.

I can imagine the stink of all that gunk. The garbage and oil and gasoline. Unreal.

I'd like to give them the benefit of doubt by saying perhaps they were just frightened and were trying to hide their fear, but frankly, they sound totally detached from what was going on.

You have to realise the time scale involved - they had been stood in the cold for well over an hour at this point watching everything getting destroyed. It's only natural to become numb to the situation as it's so beyond your control.

they had minutes of warning and normal procedure is to simply go upstairs. A tsunami of this scale is not in any way normal nor expected.
Actually - amazingly - they DO laugh again in this follow-up video, at 2:53. Not as much as in the first one, but still...

The 60 meter wave that could have made them stop laughing never came. Maybe they saw a friend of them was alive in that building and that made them laugh from joy.

…imagine people dealing with horrendous situations by laughing…how dare they cope with powerlessly seeing the sea destroy their home by laughing….

@@deletekeys It's not wrong to perceive laughter as being out of place during a huge catastrophe like this. It can seem like the people laughing are thinking the situation is funny, or that laughter is disrespectful to those who have suffered, even if that's not true.

@@hebneh Applying your norms and perceptions to people you know NOTHING about it always wrong. You know nothing of how they feel, how they were taught to deal with stress or what is going through their minds given they are the ones ACTIVELY going through crisis…far easier to judge what is perceived as right and wrong from the safety of a KZitem comment section…
