East Islip Holds Impressive Expanded STEAM Day
Students from grades 2 and 4 throughout the East Islip School District visited an impressive array of interactive displays at the annual STEAM Day on April 28, sponsored by the East Islip School Business Partnership.
This year, the event expanded to a bigger venue in the East Islip High School gym, and an evening session was added for students, parents and community members to attend.
Several new business partners were also present at STEAM Day, including the Town of Islip, Electrical Training Center and Zebra Technology, helping students to explore the many facets of classes and careers in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.
Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and Councilman James O'Connor visited with students, faculty and parents, presenting a Town of Islip Citation on behalf of the Islip Town Board, in recognition of STEAM Day.
Student groups participating included the Art Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, K-5 STEAM program, high school and middle school technology programs, and the high school video production class and WFTK broadcast studio.
