Heard about dry amendments from another grow channel they were using gaia green since that’s a Canadian product I found the next best thing which to me was down to earth. I have four years of outdoor gardening under my belt and just harvested my first indoor garden with great results and very little tweaking! I used the 4-4-4 and 4-8-4 with a little bit of extra kelp, alfalfa, and silica added to the mix. I top dressed twice and was good to go! Terpenes and strengthen harvest was great. THANKS!!!

You mean too much wind? Too much wind wont burn your plants, its a cause of heat stress and nute burns. Although too much wind can also give you ackward leaf structure on sensitive plants. But nothing much you can do if growing outdoors, unless you put a safety green house or net around it. Indoors would be much easier to handle just have the fan pointing on the wall for the air to bounce back on the other direction.

@dmick3698
2 жыл бұрын
Down to Earth is an organic dry amendment. if you mixed it with water and poured it in the pot, the ingredients would just stay on top of your soil. In healthy soil, microbes slowly break it down over 2-3 weeks, then the microbes/mycelium in the soil help deliver the nutes to the roots.
@Helloyapfammily

You mean making a tea? Yes of course. But what you mention doesnt work like that since its not soluble, but as a tea you can do it but i dont see the point of doing so as this are pre-mix or top dress (slow release) in soil which would last you a good few months without having to feed your plants with nutes. Slow release is a good way for plant build uptake to a well rounded established plant. But making it as a tea doesnt hurt your plant as well, something like a cheese cloth or a good filter with air stones to make your own tea, i only make teas from banana peels with mollases.

compost compost compost and insect frass, worm casting tea clean water. What you really want is a diverse population of bacteria, fungus and nemotodes and other little bugs eating eat other and pooping out the digested fertilizer thats ready to eat by the plant. @@anthonyromano8565 not sure what you meant, i think he is reffering to burning his plants, although you are correct with beneficial bacterias and fungus for the root system being said you can just use Mykos products, i recommend xtreme mykos, but this 4-4-4 will just do the job done by itself as an addition to your soil base, it dont just seat there, its a slow release as like any organic fertilizers. Im guessing you are growing outdoors as you said you welcome insects eating each other, its good that you have beneficial insects eating the pest away, but its a bit alarming to have both in the 1st place (of course we all know we cant prevent it growing outdoors), still i think a clean garden is always better. Adding Neem cakes to your soil and foliar spraying with neem oil can also prevent insects and critters eating your plants away, a good airflow inside the grow room is also recommended. Back to burning your plants, any fertilizers has the potential to burn plants specially seedlings with weak root system, although a good organic fertilizer like down to earth will most likely not burn your plant as it is a slow release and would take at least 2 weeks for results. Seedlings doesnt need any fertilizers! being a fertilizer of any kind is only used such as down to earth ammendments is pre mix to a soil when transplanting or use as top dress. As most organic fertilizers are compost readily for you, as oppose to fresh dungs could be a more potential burns on your plant whether its chicken, rabbit or cow manure its too hot for fir some crops to handle.
@Helloyapfammily
2 жыл бұрын
@@anthonyromano8565 also not all fungus are helpful to your root systems like trichoderma and ectomykos, endo (glomus intradices) is what you want on your colony but adding a few competition would also help that they work and not get too lazy for food uptake to support your root growth. So adding or replenishing there colony weekly and feeding mollases is a good consistent way to ammend them.

This is one thing I seek to understand and keep falling up short. I’ve asked many competent people and no one gave me a good answer. I’m in the same boat, organic soil and dry amendments. Just one less thing to worry over and think I need to change something, happy growing 🤙🏻
@fyre1borne
Жыл бұрын
Why would you test the ppm’s when it’s a slow release product? Checking in the soil is more valuable ( organic growers) than the ppm’s ….. Testing ppm’s is for adding extras when going organic. SST’s, Rice wash, bean wash etc - then you will need to test the ppm’s at the mix is ACTIVATED and immediately bio-available. Salts are all the food at once - organic is the same food split up over days …some days the plant eats more some days less.

@fyre1borne

@@bbrewster1986 realistically you don’t understand how dry amendments work. Bacteria and Fungi break down the dry amendments OVER time. Usually one will re-amend soil every 30 days. To keep stable levels in the soil. As long as the media is kept moist, the bacteria and fungi keep working. The plant will only uptake what it needs and the remainder is left for future usage. Running water through it will read between 2000-3000 ppm’s …but your plant is not absorbing that amount - that’s the run-off from the water going throughout the media. What’s more interesting is that is obvious you don’t even comprehend growing tbh because of the TYPE of question you asked. If you even read the package - it give instructions on how to be utilized. With those two bits of info, I can tell you get low harvest, hay smelling products, and don’t get soil biology. Stop asking questions and just read more - A LOT more.
