Love all these engines. While I'm a bigger fan of the 318 and 360, I wish the 4.7 had more development, from the aftermarket. Would be nice to see some heavily modded ones, that's for sure! But at the same time, the old-school Magnum/LA is just too damn good. 😁

I fully agree with you bro, the 5.2 and 5.9 are way better than the 4.7. The 4.7 H.O. is the only PowerTech V8 that comes close to competing with the V8 Magnums. As far as modified 4.7s, there are some with bolt ons, a few supercharged ones, and also a few turbocharged ones On KZitem. As far as aftermarket support, there is no comparison. There are barely any mods that you can do to a 4.7 to make it better, just the basic bolt ons, cams, and/or boost. The V8 Magnums are easier to build, they are more reliable, and there are a ton of mods available although some parts are discontinued or getting harder to find due to the age of the ZJ.

@@98ZJ318 I hear ya, bro. Jeep brought many ZJ's in the 90's here to Brazil, it was one of the most popular import cars in the period. There's still a lot that can be found, but certain ones are a bit of a struggle. But it's still so damn worth it, hehe A friend just recently got a '97 5.2 and she flies. I know that stock vs stock, the 5.9 was faster, but it's not difficult to make the 5.2 to run just as fast and even faster. When people see a 5.9, they already expect that "plus"...not so much when it's a 5.2, haha! 😁 As for the 4.7, yeah, I was actually surprised when I saw videos of a turbo'ed one, it was the very first time I had seen that engine modded in all these years (!), go figure. 😆

@@Roddy_Zeh That's awesome that they are still around in Brazil after all of these years. 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the ZJ and you don't see many 5.2s and 5.9s on the road anymore, even here in the US. You see plenty of 4.0s which are bulletproof and last forever but they are boring without a stroker kit and/or boost. the 5.2s and 5.9s are fast when N/A or boosted. There are a few advantages of the 5.2 over the 5.9. The 5.2 is a lot better on gas, it has better top end due to the smaller bore size, and it is a little bit lighter than the 5.9. The rest of the advantages go to the 5.9. More power/torque, better transmission, limited slip differential from the factory, electric fan, lighter wheels, and all of the other interior and exterior goodies.

@@98ZJ318 Nailed it, man! I always thought the 318 and 360 were virtually identical, just changing the internal dimensions, but there are quite a few different things, even the block. The fact the 5.2 has a smaller stroke also benefits it to rev higher (and faster) when packing a good set of heads and a hot cam. And, of course, smaller bore means thicker cylinder walls, so it's safer when you wanna go w/ boost and/or nitrous. This friend of mine who's got the '97, his dad owns a '98 Laredo w/ the 4.0. (Here, Jeep only brought the Laredo w/ the I6 and the Limited w/ the V8's, never offered the former w/ the 5.2 or the latter w/ the 4.0). He installed the 5.9's hood and grille. You can check out the our club's videos if you'd like: www.youtube.com/@CCGC-RJ/videos Both their cars are in the latest videos. He's also considering installing the 5.9's fan in the '97. After all, every little thing matters when it comes to bump up the power, haha!

@@Roddy_Zeh I wish I had a crew of ZJ owners like that here in the US. I know a few but they will never be in one place at the same time. a 318 can be stroked to a 390/392, a 360 can be stroked to a 408/410. Also, the 5.2 is internally balanced while the 5.9 is externally balanced. I have had less issues with my 5.9 than my 5.2 in terms of ownership because it's less modified, it just has full bolt ons but stock bottom end, stock heads, and stock cam. When it comes to modifying, I have had better luck with the 5.2 although my 5.2's engine is not the original one. My 5.2 has 40,000 less miles than my 5.9 so it is in better condition with less wear and tear. This is why I had less issues when modifying it. I got my 5.2 ZJ in September of 2007 with 80,000 miles and I got my 5.9 ZJ in April of 2013 with 134,000 miles. Overall, they are both extremely reliable but I barely drive my 5.2 compared to my 5.9 because it's much louder and faster. If I did cam only to the 5.9 I think they would be very similar in performance and if I did heads/cam to the 5.9 it would be faster than the 5.2. A heads/cam full bolt on 5.2 is around 380 crank HP and a heads/cam full bolt on 5.9 is around 400 crank HP.

I recently picked up a 5.9 limited as a DD with a 3” lift and 32’s. I went with the THOR cowl induction air filter , couldn’t be happier with it. I really like the larger air hat on it vs. the K&N.

In 2005 the Grand Cherokee (WK1) had 3 engine options: 3.7L V6, 4.7L V8, and 5.7L V8. The next year in 2006 is when the SRT8 Jeep with the 6.1L V8 was introduced.

Are you stupid ? I said the 4.7 was a Single Over Head Cam V8 which means 1 camshaft over each cylinder head. A V8 has 2 cylinder heads. Pay attention, there is no need for this comment.

Stock bottom end 5.2L 318 bored .040 over to 5.3L 324.5ci. This is not the original engine, it’s from Jasper Engines. Heads, cam, intake, exhaust, long tube headers, full bolt ons, and full supporting mods. A lot has been done to the suspension and interior as well. If you go on my channel I have a walkaround video that has the full mods list on this Jeep.
