Very good Teacher bro. You should be in a College as an Instructor. I just bought a Ford f150 bullnose with a 4.9 300, and I love it. Been restoring it now for a year. It set in a field for 8.5 years, got it for seven hundred. The old man the owner has put an f150 body on a f250 frame. It sits up higher and I can put a lot of weight on it. I used to pass by for those 8.5 years wishing I could buy it. Last year I did. The man wishes now he had never sold it. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work.

I always changed the 10 w30 oil at or a little b4 3,000 miles got on the oil. The motor lasted 27 yrs. Now five yrs later...the 300 is even stronger with the same efi exh. mnflds. Brilliant there is No timing chain. I use Shell Rotella 15w40 for oil. I was suggested to use it by a guy who is a west coast dragracer. It is for diesel engines. The 300 likes it fine. I have 60 PSI at first when the motor first fires up. After running a little, the oil pressure goes down to 55 running, 40 at idle.

Ford went to EFI in 1987 so it’s prior to that. Get a 90 dollar one off eBay. They work great and you won’t have any issues. You can get them for 70 but the build quality is trash. Sounds to me like you have poor fuel delivery. Check your oil and see if there is gas in it. If so your fuel pump diagram is bad. You might need a new pump. They are real easy, it ain’t bad

It's a Carter yf, smaller than the Carter yfa .He gave it to me. I rebuilt it. Very simple carb but extremely efficient and a gas miser. I had to replace the intake l had on with the intake that came with the smaller carb, Cause the carb didnt fit the studs on intake manifold. I did not lose any power and gained more mpg. I still have my gas receipts cause l was stunned , l thought for sure it was going to take a tankful of gas on ea. trip.

Just bought a 1980, mine has a crankcase cover right on top of the valve cover behind where you put the oil. Is that supposed to be ran to something else? It wasn’t connected via a tube or anything so I really am not sure.

hello sir. I have an issue with a 300 6, I'm hoping you can help me with. I'm not sure what year model the motor is, my grandfather installed it, but it is in a 63 ford. My oil filter is on the passenger side of the motor, but i have an oil leak around the oil filter adapter where it locks into the block. Just seeing if there is a common issue with these that I may be able to correct. I did not install the adapter, so I'm not sure if it has a gasket or if anything is warped.
@Quint1836

Hello there, if the oil filter is on the passenger side then it isnt a 300 6. On a 300 the filter is on the driver side towards the rear. However any aftermarket oil filter adapter is going to leak after a while. Summit racing has a wide range of brass or iron adapters that I'm sure will work. Plumbers tape the threads and get a universal oil o-ring kit to help seal if necessary. Hope this helps! Happy new year!

I have the same truck what causes the truck having trouble shifting. It grinds on reverse very hard to shift to 1. Shifting to 2 and 3 are easier but still hard. Is there no transmission fluid?
@Quint1836
6 ай бұрын
That’s just what happens. No synchro in R and 1st. When you shift those gears, you have to depress the clutch and wait about 3 seconds, then shift and the vehicle has to be completely stopped

You also might change the trans fluid and check your shift bushings are good

I have an 82 f150 with the 300. I need help doing some carb work. I bought a new carb for it. With the intention of rebuilding the old and having a spare. The old carb has some parts on it that the new one doesn't. Can you go in depth on the carburetor and everything attached. I believe the new one is lacking an anti stall dashpot. There are also some wiring loom connections that are absent on the new carb. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction. Thank you.

I had one of these in a 93 f150 that had efi of course and I sold it a few years ago. I missed it so I just picked up a 77 f100 with the carbed version and I must say it sounds a lot meaner. I wonder if its just the different fuel delivery that causes that mean sound or is there some other difference between the efi and carbed version? They both were/are straight piped as far as the exhaust so it can't be that...

They get about the same maybe a tad better than a 302. But the torque is the same as a 351C. 300 I6 is the best engine ever built. Get it through Autozone. 4 year unlimited mile warranty Nutech remanufactured motor

You won’t be able to find that, just go get some universal fuel fittings and put one in the pump, then run rubber line to the carb and get a fuel filter for the carb that can take a rubber line part number - FF2202DL

I'm not a big fan of the "cold air intakes" but in this case you'd be slightly better off with it because your paper filter over your manifold allows heat to heat your incoming air for the intake and that's..for every 10 degrees hotter you lose 1% efficiency power and mileage. Since you have a wet manifold it helps compensate. The fuel will cool the air to some degree. Might not be worth your trouble or expense IDK. Like I said I don't normally like cold air intakes because the factory box up near the bumper is actually the coolest and best place for the filter to start with but you know the salesmen with the twisted marketing hype makes it sound like 20 more HP and 4 more mpg LoL. But on carbureted engines this is where a cold intake filter up near the bumper and even an insulated hose might make some kind of difference.
