Begonias must be the most diverse and beautiful plant genus if you ask me. I don't care for philodendrons but I do love myself a fancy leaf begonia and I have about 20 varieties in my home. Many are still tiny ( I buy leaves and propagate them cause I'm cheap like that 😅) but still beautiful nonetheless. Not sure if you ever had one before, but if you want a good challenge, try a Chlorosticta. Mine is currently on life support as I insist on growing it outside of a terrarium. It got used to room humidity but it's mainly half a leaf and 2 leaf buds atm. If I manage to pull this off I'll be very happy 😊. Always love your content, Memo, not so much for your plants as for your lovely personality. Now that you've also thrown begonias in the mix, I had to leave a comment though I'm the silent, lurking type 😂. Anyway, I'm watching this space, hope to see the Chlorosticta someday on your channel 😉.

Ive moved towards begonia too. Many philodendrons have a horribly scraggy growth pattern, especially if you don't want to deal with moss poles. I still love anthurium , monstera and a select few philodendron like my gloriosum and my splendid but most just aren't for me. I am mostly a calathea / maranta girl so the bright begonia colours really suit me.

Chloristica is so beautiful - need to find her somewhere :-) I also grow all my begonias only from leafs 😀 Cheers to that 😀

@@kittysparkleeyes Me too - exactly the same :-) I don´t like moss poles (the care of it) and grow mostly marantaceae (in pon), alocasias, anthuriums and this year getting more into begonias 🙂

@@SparkleInMoonlight ooh yes! I have really upped my calathea game by moving the fussy ones into pon. I had one headed for the bin until i chopped it down to the base and moved it into pon. All leaves have grown back perfectly since. Same with my alocasia frydek and my schismatoglottis walechii.

I’ve the amphioxus which is doing well as a houseplant, two other stunning begonias that did surprisingly well in 50% humidity for me have been Begonia chlorosticta (which I’ve had for years outside of a terrarium) and Begonia kui (which I have gotten for just a few months & now growing like crazy). I learnt that many “exotic” begonias do surprisingly well in household humidity as long as one has the patience to wait while they grow roots and acclimatize, it’s just that the acclimatization process can be nerve-wracking since they are so prone to melting and drooping.

Ive had Rhizomatous "Boomer for 17 years, they need space because they spread their rhizomes, wider pots work great!!! I have a beautiful burgundy, mint green, Begonia that gets huge also, crazy 😮😊🌱💚 Love your show🎉🎉🎉❤ Growing my Amphioxus, on my patio loves it! I live a mile from the beach ⛱️ 😎 great humidity. Try to find one called "Gunmetal" it's really a cool Begonia!!! Love your Melanobullota, forgive spelling lol 😆

Really getting into begonia now that I've realized my environment does not do well for cane/angel wing ones. So rex are my jam now in self watering diy pots! Thanks for making video on this Memo!

I like begonias, the diversity in leaves is amazing. I always have space for some. I have been looking for the melanobullata but they are all sold out.

I never quite got the obsession with the Pink Princess, when there are multiple begonias that are more consistently and reliably pink (as well as some jewel orchids).

Very happy to see a video on begonias :-) I had B. brevirimosa cutting, it was strongly willing to grow, but had an accident and despite strong attempts, it died and I was sad 😞 Such a beautiful plant - I´ll get her again (only a bigger cutting) and try again. It´s definitely one of the most beautiful plants in existence (at least in my eyes) 😀

Thanks for the video. I like how some of the cane begonia look, but I tried twice, and the first one died ungracefully within three days indoors, and the one I have now - in a shady place outside, in pon - is on its last legs and unlikely to make it back inside for autumn. I'm a begonia killer apparently

I have one begonia - the maculata (polkadot) that I got from B&Q 3 months ago as a random purchase. It is one of the easiest plants in my care and grows like its on steroids!

Love everything you put out there 🪴 I struggle with begonias, but this gives me hope. I’m going to message you about the M.T./blue oil fern! Hopefully we can connect!

I have to say my experience with brevirimosa was weird but i am glad i stuck it out lol. When i first got it the new leaves just kept crisping up or stunting. I assumed i just couldnt give it the required level of humidity and was about to chuck it out but then i decided to give it a last chance by shoving it behind some more attractively growing plants in my velux window space and its totally come into it's own. Maybe the humidity is better there or maybe it just acclimatized.

I've been considering getting the Begonia brevirimosa subsp. exotica (which btw is the correct name according to Kew). But I'm still hesitant due to its need for relatively high air humidity, as it can get quite low in my flat during the winter months, even with two humidifiers running. The B. melanobullata is really cool 😎
