I went to school with the girl who killed Barbara Gustern. Her name is Lauren Pazienza, and she was always aggressive from a young age and seemed manic/depressive. She was erratic in high school, but none would think that she would've pushed a 90-year-old woman to death. She was also caught due to someone else from my graduating class seeing the NYPD "looking for person" and matching the face. I've watched Lazy Masquerade from the beginning, and it is wild to see a case so close to home appear on this.

FYI for the 3rd case, if there is a man trying to abduct you NEVER do what he asks even if he says he will let you live. If he succeeds in taking you, you will surely die. However if Maria had asked for help on the call, there’s a chance he might have ran away so he didn’t get caught. You ain’t taking me to no secondary location! No but for real, if you’re ever in a situation that could potentially mean life or death, you fight with everything you can. Mark up your attacker, scream, do not let them take out somewhere, especially as a another commenter pointed out, if they don’t have a mask on bc that means they don’t intend to let you live to identify them. Carry pepper spay, a personal alarm, any self defense weapon you can manage. If you’re traveling alone tell someone where you’re going, how you’re getting there, via what route and what time you’re to be expected there/back. There’s also panic button apps (like noonlight) where you can hold a button if you feel unsafe and when release you have 10 seconds to put a code in before the app notifies the police and gives them your location. Moral of the story: stay safe out there!!

Elizabeth's case made me so, so sad. She and her husband and little dog looked so happy together in their photos. I do wonder if maybe she was unknowingly being stalked. If her husband didn't even know of her having any enemies, it makes me think maybe Elizabeth had never met her attacker in the first place. Since she liked to cosplay, maybe it's possible someone become jealous/obsessive towards her from seeing her at conventions or on facebook. Elizabeth posting her address to advertise her garage sale maybe gave them the perfect opportunity to ambush her. If she didn't even know they existed until the attack then that would explain why she was friendly to them at first, thinking they were just a yard sale customer. I'm glad you touched on the topic of religious extremism as well. It is undoubtedly a problem in that country. Any Malaysian citizen could potentially face legal repercussions for openly saying the same thing you mentioned.

the reason paulanity is at the top and islam is at the bottom of the above list is cos in the bible, it teaches that all of the above were to be un ali8ed. ,. in Islam, we r to love our neighbour as ourselves whatever relgion they were. thats why when Islam expanded, they allowed everyone to practice their own religion, with their own courts etc. the only conditon was that they paid income tax. this tax was only upon men, of those only who could afford it. no elderly, women, were reruired to pay, and they wer exempt from militry duties. whilst upon the muslims, zakat which is higher than the tax the non muslims paid, was upon men and women, and they had to do milit duties. they did not force their relig onto others, and therefore didnt impoze zakat on them. this is why when ch3wz were bein purse. cute. ted around europe, by the paul followers, they ran to muslm lands for safety.... these r facts. any1 can luk it up. whilst when paulanity x. p4nd3d, it literally unn. 47ibed everyone who dint blieve. and thats why you see the huge diff in numbers above. the oldest churches in the wrld are in muz lands. there are 10ml christians in egypt.

@DrobusMaximus

It's not very practical. CCTV videos are low quality for a reason, these systems often store weeks, if not months worth of footage. Storage that would be able to store that amount of HD or above quality footage and its maintenance would be extremely costly, if not impossible for most people, and not practical at all. Nobody is throwing out massive amounts of money for a CCTV system "in case a murder happens right here on this very spot one day".

I live in Nizhny Novgorod and often walk the streets where Maria Glikina was murdered, it's horrible to realise that the man who killed her might still be around there somewhere.There could actually be a serial killer in the city, as women and girls have been disappearing since 2010s. A Russian true crime youtuber made a video about it, which also featured Maria and a dozen more girls who disappeared around the same area. The investigation is largely non-existent, so who knows if the person responsible will ever be caught.

Incidental note about the weird inconsistencies in the Maria Glikina investigation: While the overall rate of violent crime in Nizhniy Novgorod isn't as high as in the biggest cities in Russia, the place has something of a reputation for mob activity and, to a lesser extent, far-right skinhead violence. Methinks the police were either afraid of angering someone very powerful or, more charitably, didn't want them to catch on and start covering their tracks.

Whatever, if anything, the task force discovered was kept as classified information which has lead to Susanna Liew, Raymond Koh's wife, to start legal proceedings against in the government in February 2020. Her lawsuit has yet to make it to trial as far I as know and the police officers listed in the lawsuit refuse to comment on the case.

Regarding Elizabeth- could it be someone she met at the hospital that was very ill or something or someone close to someone she met at the hospital? It's hard to believe that it was just someone random if they were scoping out her house the day before...
@onijester56
2 жыл бұрын
The 501st typically visits ill children, and do so in cosplay for pretty much the entire visit. So it wouldn't be a patient, and wouldn't likely be the relative of a patient. I mean, imagine "Make-A-Wish" had Robert Downey Jr. or Bumblebee Captainpatch or whoever visit your child. It's kinda stupid for you to get upset at Iron Man or Dr. Strange for giving your child a moment of happiness. So going on a murder spree for the random group of people for doing the same thing for literally free doesn't make sense. And specifically murdering one random person out of this group makes even less sense. Not that it couldn't be someone she met at the hospital...but it's literally more logical that it was in fact a random person than that it was someone she met once while volunteering in full costume at a hospital.

@@onijester56 maaaybe they knew she was a match for organs for their loved one? this was my first thought
@onijester56
2 жыл бұрын
@@oliwiaprywatnie2306 That requires them getting her blood-type to ensure she's a match, and actually a good bit of her medical history elsewise since medical conditions can cause complications for various organ donations. If I have lung cancer because of how much I smoke, clearly you wouldn't want your loved one to have my lungs used to fix/replace their lungs. It's also...precarious since a hospital won't blindly accept random independent organs handed to them from the family. You would have to provide the entire body, but then handing a dead body to medical professionals will cause them to point out that you were involved with the corpse. The murderer would have to get their victim to sign their organ donation to a specific person so the desired organs will go to the intended "loved one", kill the victim in a way that the organs are not greatly damaged, and leave the body in a place it could be found quickly so that it can be harvested before it's too far along the path of decay for the organs to be useful. And in all of this, there's still the connecting clue of the statement to donate specific organs to a specific person which directs investigation and provides a clear motive. ----- If it's for black-market harvesting, none of that needs to be considered. But also it's significantly more likely to have been a random act from a random criminal.

I don’t know….. right after the husband leaves for work? With signs in the neighborhood for a few days advertising the tag sale? I guess it’s possible. The first week I moved into my previous house, my brand new yellow SUV was spray painted black with the words “I’m a bitch” on the back. I had just left my ex several months before and moved back to his town when this happened. He and his family always claimed it was ‘mistaken identity’ and likely meant for the previous owners. Way different than a murder, but way too specific to be mistaken identity. Especially with her case and if that was someone dressed in a cosplay costume!

The Barraza case made me think of a book I just finished reading, "Through the wall", in which a woman with obvious mental problems, Harriet, was devastated by her ex fiancé dumping her, when she was struck by her next door neighbour, Tom, because he looked a lot like her ex fiancé, so she started descending in a delusion in which if she could be with him, it would be like "fixing" her life and being loved again. The problem was, that he was living with his girlfriend, Lexie, but that didn't deter her, and without the couple knowing anything about it, never even meeting Harriet really, aside for short rides in the elevator without chats (it takes place in central London, and it keeps pointing out how normal it is there to not know your own next-door neighbours), they had no clue about her plan, but when Harriet finally snapped she tried to kill the Lexie so that she could have Tom for herself. Luckily, Lexie managed to escape and Harriet got sent to a psychiatric hospital, but let's say in this case, it was a woman who had fallen madly in love with Sergio, might have been a fellow cosplayer and met him at a convention, or just some woman who saw/met him somewhere, and got into cosplaying to "share his interests", like in the book I read, Harriet would listen through the wall or look up Tom's social media and watch and listen to the same movies, podcasts, and whatnot, to share interests. Maybe just like Harriet, she never tried to come onto him because she knew he was married, but in her delusion, if she made him a widow, she could then have him for herself. Dressing up as Leia, if that's indeed what she was wearing, could have been a representation of establishing herself as the primary woman in his life, or something like that. Of course the book was just a novel, but as they say, sometimes life imitates art, and sometimes life can be stranger than fiction.

Poor Liz. As a former Geek Community Club founder I'm gonna say... The geek community is strong and supportive. But once in a great while you'll get a fued or a rivalry that you would never suspect. It's a subculture, so you're going to get alllll kinds of personalities, good and bad. Here's one reason: people can be very territorial of their identity in the geek world. Most ppl are chill AF. Once in a while you'll find someone who uses their geek identity AS EVERYTHING in a very unhealthy way. I'm not saying a fellow geek killed her. But it would not surprise me if there was some fellow geek who felt threatened or insulted by Liz just being herself. I've seen conflicts in other subcultures I'm in and it's not uncommon.
@glorygloryholeallelujah

I genuinely think it’s connect to their work in the 501st/“geek” community. It doesn’t matter what the group is…if you have a large community of people-it’s statistically impossible to not have a few of them with some screws loose. 🤷♀️ That doesn’t mean all “loose screws” are potential killers, it just means that some of them could have the right/wrong combination of screws loose and negative life/environmental factors that could lead to them killing. That’s one of the scariest things about the mental/psychological issues that can cause extreme violence…they’re almost entirely invisible, until it’s usually already too late.😔 For example, there was a “near miss” at a Comic-Con I got sent to work at a few years ago (in Phoenix). Some dude had a mental break shortly before the con, where he genuinely believed he was “the punisher” and he needed to kill the red power ranger….(nobody died, so it’s perfectly fine to laugh at how ridiculous that last sentence was.🤣). Specifically, the ORIGINAL red power ranger (who had a scheduled appearance)-I don’t recall the exact reasoning, but I believe it was something like the “punisher” dude was watching old episodes and he thought the red ranger was insulting/mocking him, in the episode. Yeah. And he knew the actors name, but he couldn’t discern that the red ranger wasn’t REAL. It’s almost like, he thought the actor was basically the red ranger’s version of “Clark Kent” and if he killed one, it would kill the other (which, I mean…that’s technically true…🤷♀️). That SCARIEST part, is that he would’ve accomplished it-if only he hadn’t messaged a friend with some alarming psycho babble… and the friend did the right thing, by immediately calling the police and telling them what he was wearing that day. When the cops got him, they found numerous weapons including firearms/ammunition, knives, shurikens (of course) and a small “katana” type sword (of course-again), under his coat. He had studied the entrances and found a way in that wouldn’t require him to pass through any of the metal detector/security checkpoints… Luckily that little security flaw was quickly remedied in the aftermath. But yeah…you never know what might accidentally trigger someone’s unstable hatred of you and possibly even to the point of murder. Like…being in a few episodes of a kids show about 30’ish-40’ish year ago.😒

@@kittyprydex *”I'm not running away from things. I'm running to them before they flare and fade forever!!”* That’s is absolutely hilarious! (The interaction with the doctor… not the bomb threat… obviously.) 😆💕 I recall a disturbance in the force at one of the conventions around that timeline, but I don’t specifically remember a bomb threat. 🤔 But then again, the cons of 2011-2015 I was splitting my time between working and playing during those years…and was in an extremely stupid and self destructive relationship (fun, but stupid and self destructive nonetheless🤣). So there’s are a high possibility that I wasn’t even in the building, conscious, sober and/or mentally on the same planet as everyone else during the evacuation-and was most likely over at the Hyatt. And honestly, the only reason I’m certain we weren’t somehow connected to causing a problem/evacuation…is because neither of us woke up in jail. 🤔🤷♀️🤣 But now I’m curious about it and will ask my old coworkers if anyone knows/remembers details about the evacuation!
