"Canned Ham" indeed. Nice to see Boston & Maine represented all the way at the far corner on the Alta. (Heck, nice to see B&M logo anywhere; it's been a little weird to see Pan Am livery on what little was left of the B&M. It's amazing what can be bought at Bankruptcy - trademarks, DNA, ... )

It's awesome seeing high-quality, and reasonably priced, locomotives on the market. Especially with the rise of mini and micro layouts, having a smaller engine that's a solid runner is gold.

My layout is all Bachmann 70 tonners. It took a lot of work to make them run smooth as silk, but even after all that work, I would love to see Rapido do both versions of the 70 tonner, and, include the Cooper Bessemer Prime Mover sound!!!! It is awesome!!!!
@InterurbanEra

Totally agree! The Bachmann 70 tonners are fun to upgrade into great models, especially once they have a capacitor they run really nicely. That said, I'm excited for Rapido to come out with their rendition ASAP!

HARD AGREE. Rapido would absolutely kill it with a 70 tonner. The Bachmann one is too hard to find undecorated now.

I really like the Alco HH660 and want one to decal for the Central of Georgia RR. I already have 2 brass Hallmark Baldwin VO-1000's and a brass Hallmark Fairbanks-Morse H12-44. I love all those old diesel switchers. Cheers from an ex-Georgian in eastern TN

CNJ 0-4-0 like Mantua made in the 40's would be a welcomed change, as it's more in-common with many more locomotives than the 4 B&O engines. Still, anything small please!

The Bachmann tonners are certainly worth discounting out of the box given the current options available. But if we're counting modified, they're not to be messed with. My heavy 70 can haul more cars on flat track than the HH660. I'm sure the Rapido 44 tonner could be ballasted up some if you didn't want interior detail, and I really want them to do a 70 to kick Bachmann into another run so more spares can be made available.

That's in the works, actually! Subscribe and stay tuned. I've got at least 10 steam locomotive kitbashing videos ahead on the channel. I'll be superdetailing the 0-6-0 I just got, then it's onto a massive 2-6-6-2, and then hopefully a pair of 4-6-0s and 4-4-0s.

I believe BLI also did the Trackmobile if Im not mistaken. IDK much about the models, but they look pretty similar to the Factory Direct ones. Think they did a myriad of paint schemes, both real and fictional, and they also did them DC and DCC installed.
@InterurbanEra

Yep! this model is the exact one. Factor Direct Trains used to be affiliated directly with BLI, but have since split up in some form recently. Back when this was made they were the same company.

Does your HH660 feel warm where the motor is? I think mine does because it's such a tight fit to the shell but im not sure if it's normal.

Speaking of small switchers: Are you familiar with the ASF that was built in H0 scale by Rivarossi? The ASF was/is a tiny two-axle battery shunter built in East Germany and to me is the most charming little shunting critter ever created. It is totally on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain for your layout, but I can't help but think about what if your Interurban line somehow obtained one. It would be a great fit for shop movements of disabled interurban cars. The real ones were built from 1966 onwards, so it would just barely fit into your time frame.
@InterurbanEra

I just looked them up, and now I must get one! That's fantastic. Perfect for moving streetcars around the car barn on my interurban. What year are they from? Also: been wanting one of those Italian car movers that looks like a pack of cigarettes on wheels, I forget what they're called.
@bahnspotterEU
5 күн бұрын
@@InterurbanEra Yeah, I know which ones you mean. They are also made by Rivarossi and are called „Breuer Lokomotor“ or „Breuer Traktor“. They are actually a German design. The ASF like I wrote was built from 1966 till 1990, the Breuers are apparently from as early as 1914, but were built until the 50s.

may be wrong but for the track mobile. IRL the front coupler is used to kind of lift the car too add tractive effort. I had one broke it but before that i think you may possibly be able to do the same. again not sure
@InterurbanEra
5 күн бұрын
Oh! That explains why they might have wanted to model the front coupler as a cast on vs. operable, although it really limits the usability of the model stock. I'll give it a try and see if it works as you describe!

Solid choice! I use mine for switching as well. I'd recommend putting in a "current keeper II" capacitor by soundtraxx to smooth out performance as I just did on my Bachmann 4-4-0, so switching moves will remain easy.
