It's been more than 5 years since I've been following you John, and almost every video you make resonates so much with the phase of life I'm going through or the learning I wish I shared with the world. And somehow you end up being so on point every time! Keep capturing your journey, it's some of ours as well :)

As a doctoral student, I can say that you have addressed those critical points that might help us be very effective while working on academic issues. Thank you so much for being so concrete and accurate. Also, my advice to students is to turn devices off and have them out of sight while studying 📖. Saludos.

Hey John - Thanks for the video. I agree, health is definitely a huge area to focus on. Would you have a different strategy for learning by doing (like on the job), as opposed to the conventional classroom setting?

Hey John, we are often distracted by our own thoughts rather than those from our surroundings. Some of us have trouble concentrating on the task at hand so this can contribute to taking extra time studying even though we're not being very efficient in our learning. When it comes to note taking during a lecture, not everyone can summarize what the teacher is saying so they have a tendency to write down the notes verbatim and then go back later and try to make sense of what they wrote down. All of this can be very time consuming and tiring. Perhaps employing AI in our studying regiment we can become more efficient learners. Keep uploading more of this type of content John so we can become brilliant like you.😮😊

I think the fix to this problem is by priming before lectures and using curiosity-led inquiry-based learning to concentrate on a task, what's happening is completely normal not being able to focus, something you have to remember when your learning something is you don't need to learn information in the order it is ascribed to you. I am guessing what your doing is your trying to understand 100% of the information page by page and doing something like that is a waste of cognitive resources the best way to learn information is to learn the information in layers and on top of learning the information in layers trying to scaffold the information with prior knowledge or create relevancy for the information some how. Also something a person has to do is make sure they take good breaks when they are studying so they maintain flow like going on walks cleaning or doing something that maintains passive focus. Their is allot of really good information online about science backed study and learning techniques. Their is also nuance to how a person wants to take their notes, the goal of notes should be a tool to help a person understand and learn the information so good note taking would consist of a person being eveulative about the things they are learning about and or hypothosizing cuase and effect relationships. Something I've used with lectures in the past that has worked wonders is imaging the lecture is something that I am having a conversation with and I am asking them questions I am pretty sure justin sung talked about that methood in one of his video's and it has worked wonders for me.

#3 can sometimes be false because those 6 hours of racking your brain were actually important and even essential for your mind to ponder over the night/break (unconsciously) and to finally find the solution the next morning...

I've beeen using notion for a better part of a year now, and I could honestly say it's a life saver. It helps you a lot to being more organized on your classes. Before that I would simply take notes during class of what the teacher would said and in consequence my notebok was a complete mess.

Limiting distractions Become an active learner: • understanding the concept and writing it in your own words • Presenting to yourself Prioritize health, get enough sleep, staying hydrated, he didnt add this but also staying (physically active) - important for your mental health Ask questions about the topic if you understand Explain it as if you are able to understand to a young child, if not figure out what it is you are lacking
