@TONESHIFTERZ How come you are using maximum drive and 100% mix for both Distroyers? When making same style kick can I use like 10 x EQ/Distroyer cause I find the sound gets really static and messy? What is the best drive value to have it on most the time? What about the pre filters what should the frequencies be at normally? I am having trouble getting a good growl and sound from Distroyer. It doesn’t have the purr sound like Logic. Unless I am doing something wrong? Please help can’t figure out Distroyer 😢

While making the character of the kick, I see you are not clipping even when you add a 30 db peak on the Eq. I don't see any limiter on the channel strip, how do you avoid clipping? Thank you!
@Toneshifterz
4 жыл бұрын
you have to balance the outputs of all your plugins and channels. sometimes i let it clip through the mixer cause that also adds character to the kick.

Hi there! I've got a question: Why do you use linear phase mode in the first instance of FF Pro-Q, when you use the Zero-Latency mode in the other instances further down the chain and thus introduce phase issues anyways? I just don't quite get when exactly to use a linear phase EQ in the process^^ Thanks in advance for your answer!
@RAAKMO
2 жыл бұрын
It's to avoid phasing issues with the low end. Especially with kicks, you really need a solid and healthy low end. If I'm not mistaken, the first instance was just a low cut in the sub region, so that's all he wanted to do without modifying the kick in any other or any unwanted way. Most of the time, linear phase EQ isn't necessary, especially if your goal is to distort the sound of a kick in other frequencies.
@emirhas8793

I dont understand how to reference a kick 😅
@TonyBogdanov
4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the plugin you use. Pro-Q 2/3 is awesome at it. The process is basically comparing the spectrum of your kick to a reference one and then giving you the "difference", i.e. what knobs you need to tweak and how, on your EQ, in order for your kick to sound more like the reference one (search Pro-Q EQ Matching). Of course your kick won't magically sound like the reference one, in fact it will probably sound like a third thing altogether, but the main point, I feel, is that you can get some free insight into balancing the sound as a whole. Whether your kick lacks highs and has too much bass, or if it's too muddy etc. you'd be able to more easily spot such issues by comparing the sound to sort of a template, all the while still using cheap headphones and lacking the experience of the pros :P

yes they are good! but with an asymmetrical clip distortion, you have that extra level of control where you can adjust the symmetry of the distortion.

How do you set up your keyboard to trigger drumazon and also allow the keyboard to decide the key for the kick? When I use drumazon in Logic I can only set the kick to trigger in the midi notes on C3 and have to tweak the key with the Pitch knob and a tuner...
@Toneshifterz
4 жыл бұрын
I've heard its possible to create a macro for this in cubase, but i'm not too familiar with this method. otherwise usually i just tune it by ear on which ever Key im working on, and then i pitch it later on when the kick is finished.
@thijsvandijk6604
4 жыл бұрын
@@Toneshifterz Thanks for replying. Normally I tune it with a bit of help from some tuners. I'll see if I can find some way to create a macro in Logic or Ableton as I was hoping to just trigger different notes with my keyboard during the process of adding effects. Just to see if I hear anything I like.
