(I know you don't extinguish with water. I don't plan on it again. Please don't tell me about it.)
Parts breakdown:
Mailbox (from dump), 4' rebar ($3), exhaust pipe (leftover Miata exhaust parts), sand ($6 for 60lbs, used maybe 5), handheld vacuum cleaner (very old, was due to be thrown out). (That steel rod being hammered on is part of a rear stabilizer bar from a '78 Firebird, as a bonus!)
Tools used:
Angle grinder, MIG welder, hacksaw, drill.
A quick video, in filming and editing especially, of the first test fire in the forge we made out of an old mailbox in just a few hours. Welded the door shut, cut the bottom off, cut a hole for the pipe to the blower, added a short pipe on the inside with a grate (piece of metal with holes drilled). Rebar legs welded on and a vacuum cleaner in a cardboard box. Perfect.
