CRKT knives have been in my EDC for over 12 years. Early on I had a couple of issues with two of their knives and contacted them. They were very responsive and I was completely satisfied with the results (which came at no extra cost to me). They have a design somewhere in their lineup that will appeal to just about anyone looking for a knife. Trust is worth something, and they have mine.

If the CRKT Ritual speaks to you, I would strongly recommend going for the full sized version instead of the mini. The ergos on the full size are amazing and it makes for a very fun experience. It's more of a "cool factor" knife than a carry knife, so you really want to get the most out of the experience of handling it. Even though it is an assisted opener, it's fun to play with and its hard to leave it alone and not constantly mess around with it. Other than the negatives mentioned in the video, also be aware that some of them may have some lock stick before they break in. I have 2 of them (the original blue/white and the blacked out version) both put a smile on my face every time I look at them or handle them.

I haven't bought a CRKT or KERSHAW in about 5 years ,in 2023 i got over 30 new knives. But one thing i wil say about both companies is that they have amazing customer service in my opinion. Anytime i need anything for a knife they will send it to me for free and not even charge me shipping. Anything from springs and torsion bars to clips to hardware to washers and bearings and even kydex sheaths for their fixed blades. No questions asked. Just tell them what you need and within 2 weeks or less everything shows up in your mailbox. I personally love that!

I agree with what you're saying about CRKT, it's starting to look like someone is paying attention to what is going on in the community. They have been producing crap for so long that it's going to take a minute to get away from that stigma. The last knife I bought from CRKT was like 3 years ago, the Fossil, heavy heavy knife which originally had a crap pocket clip that wouldn't hold its shape. Thanks for the video Jerad. I know CRKT are typically Chinesium garbage, but I think it's worth mentioning that I carried one of their M16 14ZER knifes as a full time, paid Operations employee at a few different fire departments since 2018 when I bought it. It's been with me through working structure fires, and through countless critical EMS calls in both the EMT-Basic and Paramedic roles. I've used it to cut seat belts and the window punch to break windows to rescue kids trapped in a vehicle in the middle of the Texan summer. I never sharpened it, never oiled or cleaned it outside of cleaning various bodily fluids off it, and it never failed me. The only places it rusted were the metal liners underneath the scales and a few small rust spots on the base of the blade. I recently reprofiled the blade into a drop point because I hate tantos, and retired it to being a permanent bunker gear knife.

My only assisted flipper is a Kershaw Leek with black aluminum scales and stonewashed 14C28N. I only got it because it was reduced to 60 €, down from 120. And there is actually nothing wrong with it at all! I was prepared to do some minor fixing, but no no, it's all good. I like how you don't have to pay attention at all while flipping it open, you can even slightly push the flipper tab with your thumb and it just pops open as if you just pressed a button. Very nice to operate onehanded as well, compared to a so called automatic, where the spring is under constant pressure.

All of the New Folders are Liner-Lock Folders? CRKT needs a Modern Fidgety Lock Type... Liner-Lock and Frame-Lock Folders, to me, are not desirable anymore. Why? There are so many awesome Folder Lock Types that you can open and close easily with one hand, without putting your fingers in the path of the blade when closing the folder. These Lock Types, to me, are outdated... Great discussion and presentation. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

The Obverse is a step in the right direction, but not for anything near $275! I can think of dozens of knives under $200 that are just as nice or better. And if you really need American made, get a Spyderco PM2 in S110V for still less than this thing. I’m sorry, but we really need to stop paying stupid prices for some of these knives or we’ll just keep encouraging higher prices. If the design really speaks to you, great! That’s a different story. Buy it. But to me this is just a good-looking $200 knife. (Also, M390 has gotten a lot cheaper, so that’s no excuse for the price. I just bought a decent titanium frame lock in M390 for $100.)

Ive recently gotten into blades HARD, but my entire life I’ve always loved assisted folders Ive had a few whatever cheap gas station folders A couple assisted A couple manual I always HATED thumb tabs, but thats because i never knew how to use them correctly An old schrade ive had for the better part of a decade I’ve just realized how quickly and smoothly i can operate the action now!… 😂 took all this time but im even middle finger flicking it better than the flipper tab does it I also picked up a manual civivi with a FLAWLESS action thats totally made me agree that assisted seems pretty obsolete at this point BUT WITH THAT BEING SAID, there are some pros i find with the assisted vs manual ie; unlocking and dropping the blade is safer for liner/frame locks since the spring tension prevents the blade from coming all the way down until you push it Or just their straight consistency -sure modern manual actions are smoother, faster, just as easy to operate, and significantly more satisfying But they will never have the consistency of assisted or automatic Think of it like a manual vs auto transmission on a car Ones more or less “effortless” and pretty efficient But the other one is thrilling and has spunk behind it

My M16-14Z has been a regular carry for the last 15 plus years, and it is an absolute Workhorse of a blade, albeit a bitch to keep sharp. The Obverse's thin blade and deep hollow grind make the fact that its choil is at the same level as the edge from the factory a problem. If you intend to use the knife (as opposed to collect/trade/sell it). What part of the blade is making contact with the handle? I’d hope it’s part of the unsharpened base of the blade, but that’s a loud click and I’d worry that it’s the blade towards the tip being bashed into the handle. Not a complaint, just a question. I'm actually excited to see CRKT move upstream with regards to quality, and therefore pricing. Curious to see how they will handle this in the long term. Can they get past their brand name as a value company? Next time on Dragon Ball Zeeeee

Crkt charges too much & their designs just don’t speak to me.

The last knife is made in Italy. CRKT has had LionSteel produce some special editions and does a good job.

@mikeelek9713 Yeah I had 2 Limited Edition Squids from Crkt that were Italy made (by Lionsteel) and they were done pretty well. I really like the last knife shown, but would be much happier with a $200 price point than $275 but it's not outrageous compared to other ones I've seen. Its actually usually the D2 folders or 1.4116 steel folders that they want $80-$100 for that I will never justify spending on.

I was like "CRKT pffft" until I saw the Obverse. An interestingly shaped M390 blade on Ti CF scales for about $275. It's a no-brainer for a premium daily carry.

Crkt basically out of business to me… they used to have great lower cost stuff but for years and years they have been forgettable, much like Kershaw and Gerber. All three brands I used to like a lot, all three brands I wouldn’t spend more than $50 on now. And it would have to be an epic design at that from any of them.

I think crkt has been making some nicer stuff these days. Their color schemes and designs are looking pretty good. I wish the "Homefront" would come with washers and be a solid user for the field. The "ritual is not a knife that appeals to me at all. The guys that like dragons and crystals probably like the Ritual but the handle looks a little bit weinerish and the blade shape just doesn't look useful. Kudos however for making some different.

The Obverse is stunning. Love everything about it except the price. They lost me at $275.00.
