"I don't think we'll ever know what happened behind the scenes" Mike Fisher has literally publicly told the story in great detail more than once. The short version is Ottawa was going to trade him as part of a fire sale/rebuild and Fisher knew he was going to be traded, but had no idea as to where and didn't make any specific request as to any teams. The gm did all he could to trade him to Nashville as a personal favor/show of gratitude to Fisher.

The mess didn’t bring us to game 7 of the finals. Anytime we were there it was without the mess being on the team.. with all due respect to Edmonton fans. Btw I still remember watching and praying for your team and loved your run since mine made a rare non playoff appearance that year.

I was close with a few sens staff at the time of the fisher trade…he didn’t force a trade, he gave his heart and body to that team for 11 years and they were going downhill steadily. The team willingly traded him to the city he wanted as a “thank you for service” type deal. All on good terms

Say what you will about Sean Avery, but last year when my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer, one of his friends got Sean Avery to do a cameo video for him. That video was awesome! When my dad died a few weeks ago, his friend sent a message to Sean Avery giving him an update, and Avery responded immediately, remembering my dad. I will never forget what that video did for my dad at a low point in his life

Man Edmontons run to the finals that year is probably one of the best Cinderella stories in hockey. I remember backing them when my uncle thought they had no chance. I still believe them losing luongo during the finals is ultimately what cost them that series. Such a shame

Not that this adds or changes Mike Fisher’s trade story too much, he told the Sens that he would be traded to only two teams : Nashville or LA. Either the country music capital of America, or the entertainment capital of the world. Both making it easier for his wife to live and work, hats off to the guy for making it work !

Pronger was an enforcer. He could fight when necessary and was tough but not an enforcer. On another note, why Pronger switched to the Reebok helmet on Edmonton then on out to the end of his career, that made his forehead stick out like 8 inches, I will never understand.

I had the NHL package and put 20 bucks on the Oilers to win the cup that year after they signed Pronger and Peca. I watched them a lot that year. Pronger was massively important to them, in my opinion should have been the league MVP that year.

MSG group has a tax exemption with NYC. So I assume that skyrockets their value. However, if the Knicks or rangers play any of their home games outside of MSG (pandemic games aside, I assume).. they lose that exemption and I'm certain they'd lose quite a bit of that value too. That's why the rangers are always the road team in a winter classic...

Define star? He was always on the highlights of the games. Giving hockey fans entertainment threw press conferences. He definitely wasn’t the most skilled player but New York loves him that’s for sure. A lot of the players don’t show off their personality these days and they have way more opportunity to do so. Sean was worth the price of admission alone.

After looking into those rumours, most sources point towards that being a total hoax. The initial trade request mentioned "family reasons" as he didn't want to single out his wife. Because the statement was so vague it formed this rumour. Could be true, but there just wasn't enough proof for me to respectfully cover it

for Duchene , you have a pretty story , but major factor is Nathan MacKinnon draft in 2013 and in 2013-2014 Nathan MacKinnon score 24 goal and 39 A for 63 point and Duchene 23 goal and 47 A ,so Duchene was traded in 2017-2018 season ,When Duchene gone Nathan MacKinnon explode season 2017-2018 to today ,Sakic know in 2013 he have to trade Duchene

He's a great guy. I got to know him when practicing with the preds when they needed a goalie during the 2012 lockout when they were having unofficial skates in cool springs. He and Chris mason were easily the two nicest guys day in and day out.

It looked brutal even at the time. Sergachev has turned out to be exactly what he was supposed to be when he was drafted. It's not like he was underperforming.
