Easy routes to finals, semi finals etc leaving key players at home, playing players out of positions, defensive strategies with an attacking team. It isn’t good when you look at it that way. Sven probably would have won the World Cup with the knockout routes Southgate had.
@Korvintage64

He doesn't play to lose, that's just silly. Unfortunately he plays not to lose with winning coming a distant second & that's where the problem lies. England take the lead & they're obviously told to drop deep & defend. It happens so often that it is obviously Southgate's policy, a flawed one given England then defend like the Keystone cops. His lack of ambition & the team's lack of cohesion really dictates he needs to be replaced..... hopefully not by another clone of 'safe hands' so beloved by the F.A.

English managers set their standards too high. They want to immediately get a job in the Premier League and not work their way up from the bottom. I mean, Jurgen Klopp began in 2. Bundesliga with Mainz. Max Allegri started in the Serie C2. Sir Alex started in the Scottish Second Division. Why didn't Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney and the likes not want to go any lower than the Championship? Why didn't they consider going abroad to gain experience??. There are 20 teams teams in the Premier League and only 6 managers are British. From these 6 Brits only 3 are English (plus 1 Scot, 1 Welshman and 1 N.Irishman). Only nine managers have won the Premier League in its 25-year history, with Manchester United's former manager Alex Ferguson of Scotland winning it 13 times. Like the comment at the beginning, Southgate hadn't really achieved much before getting this job. All the best non-English managers are the best in the Premier League. Guardiola, Arteta, Emery, ten Hag and recently Klopp, Wenger and Mourinho, (Liverpool aren't stupid, they signed Arne Slot from Feyenoord Rotterdam). In Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands etc. they will give chances to young coaches and give them time to develop, whereas Premier League clubs would rather poach the best talents from overseas. So what is wrong? The only Englishman who could have achieved something would have been Brian Clough. Took Derby County to 2st Division promoted as Second Division champions and, three years later, crowned champions of England for the first time in the club's history. In 1973, they reached the semi-finals of the European Cup. When he took over Forest, he turned them into one of Europe's best teams..Clough was universally seen as a hard but fair manager, who insisted on clean play from his players and brooked no stupid questions from the press He was charismatic, outspoken, and often controversial He insisted on being called "Boss" and earned great respect from his peers for his ability to turn a game to his and his team's advantage. And...he wasn't an FA bum-licker. It would have been interesting to see what he would have done with this squad...a lot more for sure.

It definitely didn’t help bringing them on in the last seconds- what harm would could it have done to give them 5-10 mins to run around and have a couple of touches? By making it their first and only contribution Southgate found a way to add even more pressure to one of the most already pressured situations. Also basing his takers off of training pens and just sticking to it didn’t seem the smartest move - ‘they said they still wanted to take them’ doesn’t cut it - the manager needs to identify and separate confidence from bravado in his players - Saka looked visibly terrified

You have to separate man from manager. I don't like Southgate's wokeism, indeed I believe it cost the Euro title against Italy, but he's not an offensive man & doesn't deserve all this bile & hatred. His competence as manager deserves to be both questioned & criticised as it doesn't stand up to close scrutiny, & IMO he deserves to be sacked. In fact he should have been dismissed after the last World Cup, but as we all know the buffoons at the F.A. prefer safe rather than capable hands. So when criticising Southgate, direct some of the frustration at the FA who thought promoting a man whose major achievement was getting Middlesborough relegated qualified him for the most prestigious of English positions.

I think this is a very good summary of Southgate. The luck we have had coming up against beatable teams is extraordinary its got us to semis and a final, but come up against a better team and Southgate will not let the players just play , I'll never forgive him for losing the final against Italy, we were on top and dominating them in the first half , then all of a sudden the attacks stopped and for 60 minutes we went back in a shell , Italy got back into it and that was that , there was a brief spell of attacking but it felt like Southgate was happy with the draw and penalties. People wonder if its the players being forced back, it's not , it's just habit now of Southgate to drop them deep and defend instead of going all out. The squad selection and subsequent final eleven he has put out so far is mystifying. A pool full of talent and Southgate wastes it by playing players out of position or taking an injured player.

Don't think HATE is the right word, he's actually a very decent nice man who is non confrontational and always tends to say the right things (abet in a monotone boring style) to the media. My view is that 1: He's terribly inexperienced as a manager with a poor record at club record 2: He's too nice and always trying to please his players, this works to a point but at some point you need to chastise the players if and when they perform poorly 3: He's not a winner, constantly refers to "trying your best" is enough, where as someone like Pep is obsessed with winning. He classed reaching finals and losing as failure where as Southgate would class losing to a decent team as acceptable in the later rounds as unlucky. 4: His substitutions always seem to be decided pre game not based on what he sees on the pitch. They always tend to be very late and there's a massive caution to everything with the focus being on not losing, instead of trying to win. It's totally understandable why the England fans feel frustrated. We have so many attacking players but the focus seems to be on defensive duties.

But England need a coach like that - a coach like Pep or Klopp, a coach who lights a fire in the players, "lights them up". But Southgate sits on the bench for 90 minutes and doesn't communicate with his players, he just sits there! As a German I could now say that the best Englishman wears the 10 of the German national team and is called Musiala!!! But that's too short-sighted! I wouldn't begrudge you English a title, but not with these soulless performances, where is the English fighting spirit? He's a disgrace to be honest isn't he. We(England) deserve nothing at these EURO's. Let's get knocked out, sack Southgate and move on and up.....

Because rashford and Sterling had a very bad season with their clubs, that is why they didn't get called up.

Jeesh it’s so over the top. It’s all his fault just like it has been for every England manager since Sir Alf and even he got the sack. There’s a reason why they call it the impossible job.

should have sacked Sir Alf after the 1970 world cup, instead they kept him on and we failed to qualify for the 74 world cup

This channel is trying to get clicks and likes by kicking the England manager. It's vacuous people like this who think cynicism and malice are the road to popularity. The tournament isn't finished yet. Judge his management afterwards. This does nothing except undermine the team's morale.

The FA made GS take Shaw (mufc want to sell him....still not been able to train)..the FA made GS take Conor Gallacher (Chelsea desperate to get rid). The FA insisted that Grealish and Maddison were dropped, which means we have weak crap players CG/JG/PF/BS to breakdown defences and they can't. I have to admit I hate GS, he has become very rich (16m quid) and still couldn't run a bath.....but he follows FA orders..which means that England are being set up to FAIL BY THE MANAGER. Glad to see so many fans calling him out and booing him and throwing things at him....can't wait see the back of him. Grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory...has been repeated by GS so many times. England ZERO chance of winning the next four games. For the record, this tournament so far has been a big disappointment, very poor football and little to enjoy. GS is a ****

What do you think? I am only one. Yes, most England fans going by the reception Southgoat got after Slovenia game. Do you think England deserve to be praised? Do you back Southgoat. I'd credit England if they entertained and played great football. I'm not an anti England fan. Just can't watch them, they're an embarrassment to international football. Also did you notice when England went 2-1 up they went back to their negative defending game again. They'll never learn.
