Great video! I've been looking for a breakdown like this for a while and think what I've learned here will help me a lot. You mentioned pick up type but not selector position although I guess one could think of that as a form of EQ. In a perfect world, there would be a similar video on getting a particular sound for drums!

@@ProduceGuitarPop I'd love the rig pack! But I do have a question -- I use Logic Pro X, would I be able to use the one you make for logic too or would it be only for your daw? (which im guessing is pro tools?)

Really great info! thanks. I love that song btw. I kind of felt the guitar rig tone lacked the energy in the song. Is that a limitation of guitar rig?

WOWOW I learnt so much from this video, especially about the different amps! A lot of tutorials say that Guitar & Amp are the most important part of the tone but then they don't go into detail,,, they just say it's the most important part... So thanks for the Guitar & Amp rundown at the start! I really like this style of general skills videos, same with the guitar lead writing video, they've been very helpful :D Do you use dynamic EQ on guitars? Like on palm mutes or smth? Also I hear a lot about LA-2A and 1176 compressors but I don't actually know the difference or use cases. I just know "oonga boonga LA-2A good on vocal and 1176 go grr" but not really sure why. Do you have a video on compressors? It would be cool to learn about them in an indie pop context! Or even indie pop vocals! A vocals video would be awesome! Thanks😃

Thank you! For dynamic EQ I would only use it as a mixing thing after the fact if I felt like the low end was inconsistent. The general difference between the two is the knee, the angle of compression. 1176 has a pretty aggressive knee so it works better on sounds where aggressive compression isn’t a concern (drums, electric guitar, taming the peaks of vocals) whereas an LA-2A has a softer knee and is known for the roundness it adds to a sound (acoustic guitars, pianos, main vocal compression)

Another amazing guitar knowledge drop! Do you have any thoughts on noiseless single coils for DI recording?

It was very hands off with that experience. I already had all of my PRO stuff setup already so it wasn’t that complicated.
