Lucas, I've been doing these stretches for a year and a half after watching this video. Took me about a month to be able to do the MP and streamline stretch, but it was well-worth it. I've gotten faster. Neck stretch definitely helped with breathing. Almost achieved plantar flexion after 1.5 years. Still working on it.

1. “Michael Phelps” behind the back stretch (& shake off in front) 2. Streamline stretch (& bend left, & then bend to the right) 3. Ankle Stretches 4. Neck rolls (like an owl-or like you’re breathing sideways in the water) Good flexibility in your: -shoulders & arms, -whole body, -ankles, and -neck will help extend your stroke, keep you streamlined better, lower drag with your kicking, and lower drag when you breath

Thank you so so much, I don't swim, but I had unbearable pain, no one managed to diagnose. I finally diagnosed my self by looking on the net. The next step was finding the cure. I have been suffering from horrible pain for the last 8 months. I found you on youtube, as soon as I started doing the stretches, I found instant relief. ^ months of physical therapy and 4 sessions of chiro. so far but you did the trick.

After seeing this video I think what I lack most is flexibility. I mean I have a vo2max of 65, I run fast I'm getting faster and faster on bike but I have been doing triathlon for 4 years and I went from going at the same speed of people doing breathstroke when I do front crawl to still getting out with the second half of the swimmers in triathlon (overall). I'm not saying i have the best technique, but I'm almost as bad wether I swim twice or 5 times /week and I think I know the major points of the technique but even if I tried to apply them, it's like there is something else getting in my way. I'm very not flexible of nature, just sitting on my feet hurt a lot so you can be sure I'll give those a try! Thank you

@siskatrainingsystems

Sounds like the flexibility can definitely help you, hows it coming??
@Tomy-im8zl
5 жыл бұрын
@@siskatrainingsystems I think I'm down to 10 sec/100 m now. On my 200 or 300 m interval trainings I went from a bit more than 2:00/100m to almost 1:50/100m. I think I can still gain a bit on flexibility but at least now when I'm pushing to go faster I feel like I can glide way better on water and I do not feel like I'm only loosing more energy. Before I was just to slow to compete with the best because of my swim, but this summer I did a sprint distance and I manage to finished 5th overall (on 272 people) even though I was 52 after the swim. So there is still place for improvement but still very happy with my progress in swimming. So thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, it is very appreciated!
