I should have been clearer in the video. We DID NOT check any bags. That is the point of the video. We rarely do as a family. Cheaper, less hassle, and less likely to get lost or delayed.

Just one word of caution, having lost TWO Gerber bladeless tools to TSA. All it takes is one idiot who measures the tool in a half-deployed configuration at over 7 inches. The supervisor, in both cases, naturally sided with their officer. Now I carry a Leatherman Style PS or the Schrade bladeless tool. They are too small to measure over 7 inches. Not as ideal as a full size tool, but so far, it works. Full size tool in the luggage.

Eye opener multitool. Thanks! I feel partly naked when travelling without at least a Victorinox. One advice though, for someone with such gear expertise, man it's time to upgrade you light. That 5.11's output to size is very unfavorable. A couple of suggestions: Eagtac D25C, D25A, DX30LC2, Olight S2Rii, and if you need one of the best impact bezels (sharp), the 1" diameter Armytek partners. You should consider :)

Jeffrey Pringle I agree. Besides, for that price you could get a Wowtac and have a USB-rechargeable battery and several times the light output. Or if you don’t need the higher output, just get something that runs on AA.

If you’re visiting family, you can always ship stuff out in advance or just pick something cheap from Amazon and have it drop shipped to their house. Then when you leave, just “donate” it to your family. Tell them to hold onto it for your next visit. If you are really needing to carry around a box-cutter like that, you can get folders from Harbor Freight or even the dollar store that will work just as well for a couple (or one) dollars. If you can’t be bothered to make a stop at a dollar store or a hardware store, then I guess whatever you can get by TSA is what you’re going to have to work with. Also, as others have mentioned, if you are doing foreign travel, it might be a whole different game.

I have tried to take a multi tool with only pliers scissors and screwdrivers as the attachments and they still denied me the multi tool, because they said the scissors were too aggressively pointed. so I don't know if I got unlucky or you just got lucky but either way I think I would rather just use a friend's tools when I got to where I was going, or just drive.also what is your experience with fire steels on board? I’ll be traveling to Philadelphia very soon and have a very unconstitutional local ordinance knife band which bands all cutting tools so pretty much any knife of any type is going to get me legally jammed up although my CHL is honored there lol So I’ll have my CCW but will be knifeless. Lol have u tried working on a car with a multi tool bro. Stop being full of shit. As a mechanic i can guarantee you that u wont be able to change a simple light bulb from interior roof because in 90% of cars none of those tools with fit the in the holes where screws are located. Same goes for any plastic indoors. Absolutely nothing in the engine bay ull be able to reach or unscrew. Perhaps few plastics around the grill but thats about it. if your rental car has broken down no fucking multi tool on planet will be able to fix it.
