Eigenchrist? Is that the messiah when acted upon by a transformation that returns the same messiah plus a scalar?

@eigenchris 's videos literally opened up my mind to tensors and its like, his videos should be the first course in this field. Wish he would have written a book on Tensor Calculus.

I don't agree @Roberto S, this course is after the students were introduced to most of the things multiple times in their curriculum at mit, I think he's excellent. By way he's there because of his research. Students are there with him to get instructed in conducting research.

Articulating/explaining a concept, with neither rigor nor lucidity, trusting the previous experience of your audience, is not what I call pedagogical excellence.

As you have modified your comment, I will respond to the additional observations. Those professors with the most substantial research work, almost in every lecture give insightful, clever, unusual versions of the things they are professing. One sees almost immediately they are not just teachers, but are capable of contributing to the subject matter. I have never know a researcher that was truly renowned that did not contribute insight and understanding in lecture. Your justifications are not defensible.

@@robertos4172 You are implying that a good researcher HAS to be a good educator. My example is more than enough to prove you wrong, regardless if there are some good researchers that are also good educators or not. You are completely wrong, there are reasons why there's degrees exclusively on education.

40:36 Is it valid to regard the levi-civita symbol as a tensor?
@yoghurt3643
4 жыл бұрын
Well, technically the levi-civita symbol is called a tensor density. In most circumstances though, there’s no harm in thinking of it as a tenor. Also, it can be transformed into one easily. See chapter 2 of Carroll’s superb book, which was also recommended in this course as textbook.

Is any indian here studying in MIT, I just wanna ask that how much percentage is needed in 12th to get into MIT as in field of experimental physicist. I am currently 14, and have studied all of these things which aint of my level and i understand it. I want to study in MIT after my 12th, thats why i want to ask.
@quantumkarthik

You cannot study thereafter 12th. You need to do your Bachelors from India itself either from a very very reputed college and then clear a screening test + possibly an interview. Remember why I said reputed is because you need an exceptional prof who has an international reputation to give you a recommendation letter. PS. You are most likely expected to have exposure to the research field as well. Now you want to do a master's there again our curriculum offers 15 years of education on the other hand MIT expects 16 years of education. So, Possibly you are only left with a choice for Ph.D. For a Ph.D. you need to have a very very Solid research exposure and since you are competing globally you need to have at least 3 research publications to stay in the game. Since The best students from the best university compete for a doctoral Position there. Best of Luck!
