Good timing as Radio Wales did a feature on the Elan Valley trust and Rhayader tourist board yesterday. Nice to see it featured by you guys but don’t shout too loudly as we don’t want it turning into another Pont Ar Daf (aka Piccadilly Station) do we!! Hahaha

I have the GRAYL and it's brilliant, especially for travelling overseas. Take some water purification tablets too for extra confidence. I must say the MSR Guardian does look the biz, bit more pricey but a worthy addition to have as a back-up if travelling by vehicle, despite it's price if you can spread the cost buying online over the "pay in 3 installments" definitely on the 'to buy' list, thanks guys!

If you carry some flavoured electrolyte tabs you can add one to the chlorinated water to eliminate the chlorine flavour.

@@trekitt I would let the chlorine do its job first then add the tab after.

I drink unfiltered water 💦 direct from lakes, rivers and streams. The human body is the very best filter.

Yeh it'll filter it out your bum in a rather violent manner in you're not careful.

I got Giardia Lambila from from ingesting a small amount of river water. Lost 2 stone and would have 100% died if not for antibiotics. Sometimes the human body needs a helping hand.

Lots of people do this particularly fell runners who just carry a cup on the hills and drink from streams when they pass them. Your body can do it as we did it for centuries but nowadays there are a lot more contaminants in the water and in any case if you’re not used to it then your body will need to adapt to it gradually you will just get the shits lol. I use the katadyn be free filter which I think is the best one person filtration system. Fab product.

@@johnfletcher9907 Getting the shits is the body's own natural function to quickly get rid of toxics or irritants. People get loose stools far more through eating foods than drinking water... especially following a hot vindaloo! 😂 Modern outdoors companies' obsession with selling water purification tablets and water filters is purely a marketing ploy and brain-washing people into thinking that drinking any water is hazardous...which is completely untrue. Babies and kids eating dirt and drinking from puddles is a natural way of the body consuming good gut bacteria 🦠 and helping it get used to quickly fighting bad bacteria. I have travelled extensively across 💯 countries, and never filter my water. By the way...I haven't visited a doctor or dentist in over 45-years.
