Unfortunately in civilian circumstances the competition would usually mean decreased teamwork and burnout…

I agree competition will only lead to sabotage and distrust among peers. I've worked for some multinational companies such as Samsung and LG, they encourage teamwork above competition. Also this is BS because some companies want you to give them your soul while paying bellow average salaries and don't forget the pizza parties

This actually happens in Special Forces as well. My mom's cousin was a Green Beret in the mid-80s and was sent to Central America on multiple deployments where he wasn't able to contact his family for months that kept dragging on and on. (he probably was in both El Salvador and Honduras but he's not allowed to discuss what he was doing). His wife ended up leaving him and he got divorce papers while deployed. Morale was garbage. There were Green Berets he was served with that took dishonorable discharges just to get out before their contracts were up so they wouldn't get sent on another deployment like that. Pushing people to their limits to join a team requires people to continue to want to be on the team and to be rewarded for it. The military can try to lock soldiers into contracts, but it's not something the civilian world can do. My 16 year old son wants to either be a SEAL or Green Beret, but my mom's cousin is telling him to not do it and if he wants to join the military, then do Air Force ROTC since being in Special Forces was a nightmare for him. Maybe since the 80s things have changed, but it does still feel like kids like him want to join and end up trapped into bad situations with contracts that don't allow them to quit.

civilians are selected from mediums. Spec ops people are selected from top of the top. So the results are going to differ. Almost noone goes into a job interview as if they're trying for T1 unit.

I would add give them a reason to go to these lengths to get hired. People who join SOF are highly motivated to become SOF. In civilian it would most likely be high pay, though some roles (like artists) could be the job itself is super enjoyable or desirable.-there is no way this hiring process will work and get good people for a low paying and undesirable job like fast food.

Was an officer and after leaving the army I had different jobs in civilian life, but assessments where less challenging than the military ones. ‚Hardest‘ one was a three day assessment center.

I've been following this channel for over a year and have nothing but admiration for the job you've done. Thank you. Do you think we could count on you to talk about the abusive organizational culture in the special operations community? I'm sure there's much to reflect on draw from.

Good video, it's kind of unique but it's almost as if I knew these lessons before because I watched your other videos in a sense. I got some ideas, what to do when your surroundings are bad. Remember that Medic Captain that told you to lie on your report, how would you handle such adversity if everyone was like that? How to improve mental strength. Video about psychology, romance, emotions, school, work maybe? How to master a language.

How do you all go about testing teamwork skills / finding out if/how well people play well with others? I feel like these good/bad traits often are revealed after people have been working alongside teamembers and co -workers long enough to be comfortable and show their bad habits
