In this video I demonstrate 4 ways how you can make your dog walks less stressful if you have a reactive dog. Of course, every dog and situation is different and it may be that you need help from a professional trainer because your dog's behaviour may be more severe.
I have found these generally work well to give you good alternatives to manage your dog better.
This is my first session out of 5 with this group, so the ‘end’ of this video is really only JUST the beginning. I hope to post the end video in a few weeks so you can see the progression for all dogs.
In the first part of the video I show you instantly how I work with Billy and in the 2nd part of the video I will talk about how I think we should respond to dog reactivity, what calming signals are, constructional aggression therapy and how we can desensitise our dogs, slowly over time.
Dog training is not one size fits all but I’m trying to display a true version of how I train dogs.
Please keep in mind that I’m teaching a paid class where the focus is on my clients and their dogs, not on getting the best camera footage (I need a camera man ahah).
I tried my best for you at least.
In the actual class I did the 2nd part FIRST and followed by the demo with the dog, but for the sake of the video and people’s retention I put the part with Billy first.
I really recommend you first start with:
Yes, Look, Go get it BEFORE there are any triggers.
Same with Pulling on lead/Body blocking. First you work without triggers. If your dog can’t do it without triggers you have no chance of success with triggers.
