You can get different boss adapters for push fit and solvent weld pipe. Outside diameter of the 40mm push fit pipe is actually 41mm . For solvent weld pipe it is actually 43mm. So the pushfit pipe will slide into that adapter more easily than the solvent weld pipe.

Hi, would you please tell me if you are supposed to fit solvent pipe or push fit 32/40 mm pipe in that black rubber? Does it work with both?

Just started to investigate one which is leaking in our ceiling space, this was very helpful in showing me how it was actually put together and how to try to tackle the leak, which is a drip. Not so easy when you are in a tight space with the door chopped up, but it’s a start

Another tip: There should be a slight slope/angle. Triple check you got the UP/TOP side in the UP/TOP position.

Thank for this video. Sorting our some naff plumbing by the builder of our house. I’d not heard of boss fittings before but knew something link this must exist since the bath drain was going somewhere. What is helpful is knowing (seeing) that there’s nothing stopping the 40mm pipe when you push it into the adapter so caution not to push it too far in

This pipe is 43mm because it is a solvent one, I can see it by the thicness of the wall.. so the outside diameter is bigger and as such it is more difficult to fit in

Hi thank you I'm about to buy the stuff to do mine . Just one question when you push the white pipe in to the rubber is there a stop point when it gets to the end of the rubber or the adaptor. Or will it keep going all way in to the black pipe . I guess when I buy mine I find out . It so i dont push it in to far and block the pipe . Or should I measure the leanth and mark the white pipe and go in as far as the mark cheers

It can keep going if you force it through. There isn't a stop point.

If you look inside the rubber there's a but that stops you going too far. It's about 2.5cm in.
