Hi Corey. Really enjoying your last few videos in South America while self isolating in Calgary. My hubby and I started following u after reading about your adventures in the local paper. Any chance they will do a follow up piece? Glad to hear u are home safe but I’m sure u are disappointed your last few trips were cancelled. I did my first and only Contiki trip when I was 21 back in 1979!! U weren’t even born yet!! 😂. They have been around a long time and it’s amazing to see how they have grown their tours to almost every destination / country in the world. My trip was a 12 week tour thru Europe and what was formerly the Soviet Union. This was their longest tour. We slept in tents that we pitched each night as well as the cooking tent. We slept on a light foam mattress and our own sleeping bags. We had a cook who travelled with us and who cooked us three meals a day. We were organized into teams who helped cook, wash dishes or clean and wash the bus. Their tours have certainly come a long way since then. But they still offer the same product which has made them so successful - interesting tours, convenience, fun and safety. What I remember most from my trip is just not all the great places I saw but the crazy memories, laughter, the variety of people on our bus and the long lasting friendships. After my tour I continued to travel in Europe for another three months. My trip has always been a highlight of my life that I still cherish to this day. So thank u again for sharing your Contiki adventures with us and letting me reflect back on my own journey/memories. ❤️

Magie, thanks for your note! Happy to hear you've been able to enjoy my episodes while in isolation. I too have been re watching some of my older content as I waited for my quarantine to end (it's over... though there's not really anywhere to go at the moment!). The trip you did back in 1979 was rebranded as a shorter 47 day tour titled "The Original." My intention at the beginning was to do "The Original" instead of "European Adventurer", but the trip dates meant I either had to quit my job several weeks earlier than I anticipated or miss out on the wedding I attended at the end of June. Unfortunately - as it turned out - 2019 was the final year they offered "The Original." I guess travelers these days aren't as interested in roughing it and they were struggling to fill trips with enough people. It's a shame, as I think it would have been an amazing adventure and one I'm very sad I couldn't make work with my schedule. A 12 week version would have been a dream trip and I can only imagine the amazing memories you made! Are you still in contact with people from that trip? Fortunately there's still 3 more episodes in the official Odyssey catalog and I'm hoping to make more content in the future. Also, I haven't been in contact with the Herald about a follow-up piece now that I'm back, but I'm guessing the last thing people need right now is to hear how amazing my trip was when no one can really go anywhere right now... so maybe at a later date when travel is once again an option for everyone? I hope you stay safe during your self isolation!

Thanks Manny, I appreciate you following along! Sadly, I was not able to complete the trip as I originally intended due to the travel bans (I returned home two weeks ago), but I did complete 300/400 days as I originally planned. Hopefully some day - once the world is no longer shutdown - you can do a similar trip of your own!
