Money Saving Tips!!
1. Shop early and look for deals. I was able to do this by shopping at Lidl and Aldi mostly. They have GREAT deals right now. I saw butter for $2 per lb, 6 for $2 canned goods, $0.50 per lb sweet potatoes , $0.60 stuffing boxes, $1 chicken/ turkey broth, and many more good deals you can take advantage of. Stock up on non perishable items to also use at Christmas.
2. Make as many things as you can from scratch. Pie crust cost $4-5 at the store. Making it from scratch is only like $1.50. Plus the homemade one taste way better. You can leave the bourbon out the peach cobbler and it will still be great!
3. I assume you have at least a few basic things in your house like spices, flour, oil, bouillons, sugar, etc. But even if you have to buy some of these items, they can be used for other meals. You can change the spices for the turkey to match what you have at your house.
4. Don't feel like you have to make 4-5 sides for Thanksgiving. If you are on a budget 3 sides is plenty. Plus the sides I give here have alot of variety. If you want something extra, I would add some collard greens or rolls.
5. If buying turkey legs it too high, but a whole turkey and cut it up. Turkey's are literally $0.50-1.00 per lb right now. This is also great if you want to make turkey stock, as you can use the carcass for that.
6. If you are hosting a larger party, as guest to bring a side dish. Food too high for you to be footing the whole bill lol!
